well i scuffed up the hood and shot it with a few colors to see how i would like it. i didnt fix any of the imperfections and i shot it outside so its a little rough. plus i didnt wait for my tape window so i pulled a little of the silver. but, its going to get sanded off anyways, so it doesnt really matter.

the silver is the same one that i used on the suspension, and the red on the left is spi's torch red. the one on the right is a mix of the spi red (whats on the frame) and the spi torch 1:1. the one on the left, the torch, is a little more orange, whereas the right is a little more pink. not sure which one im going to go with.

the clear layed down pretty good, but i really hosed it on a i think i got a little urethane peel as opposed to the orange peel. i had the fan really narrow and it was pushing the clear to the sides as i sprayed. it would even up, but not totally. next time im going to widen up the fan a lot.

sooooooo, what do you guys think about the color combo? before i sprayed it, i thought i would want the silver darker, but now im not sure. i dont know how im going to make the stripes yet, but this was a good way to compare the colors, and i actually like it. jason rushforth is doing a rendering, so ill just pick a stripe option and shoot it.

ANY!!!! opinions are welcome

thanks, Tim

btw.... top pic is without clear....

I like the color combo! I think the silver looks good as is.

Tough to see the difference in the red's with pictures.

Took a look at the links for the pic's of the chassis and suspension and it looks super clean. Nice Job!

I like the one on the right... just looks like it has more depth from the picture. The silver looks good too!

Which silver is that? It looks a bit grey to me, but it could be the picture. If the silver has too much pearl, it will tend to look grey as the sun starts to set...if you look at the BMW's at dusk, you'll see they look a bit dull if the sun isn't bright.

My last car was painted a VW silver (I think it was a 2002 VW Beetle Bright Silver). It's a great looking silver if you want it to jump off the car.

Red/Silver is a great looking combo.

the silver is ppg's ford titanium silver. i picked it because it doesnt really change tones in different lights. some silvers will show more gold or blue or green when put in different lights, but this stays pretty close to original.

the reds are very close. i really like them, but i may go just a tad darker.

I like the right side grey color best. has good depth to match the depth of the red.

the silver is actually the same color. the sun is setting to the left side of the hood, so the metallics are catching the light at a different angle. the seperation you see is actually the ridge that runs down the middle of the hood.

remember, that top pic is without clear.....

thanks again guys. it cost me about $75 in materials, but the load it took off my mind is priceless. they look much better in person than they ever did in my imagination. i thought my frame would help me decide, but theres just not enough material there to compare.
