View Full Version : Sad News for Ford

Kind of strange to have this news come out on April 1st...But it's no joke.

Due to lack of interest in Ford Pro-Touring/Restomods my Ford book will not be reprinted. I knew it was coming but the news didn't "set-in" until the book order for Goodies Speed Shop came in today. We received all the books I ordered except for the Ford Restomod books. At the bottom of the page it said that S-A Design was completely out of stock and the "back-order" will NEVER be shipped.

That really blows! Life goes on.

Thanks for listening,

Sorry to hear that Tony. How many issues were sold?

Never fear Nate. Everything is fine. I'm just bummed about the book. I have a little something to celebrate on the same day. I turned in my Big Block Chevy Book today. ...well, the text anyway. I have a little more time for photos. This day is just peachy due to my BBC book being partially done.

Tony, S-A Design printed and sold all 6000 copies. Fortunately for me, I purchased a bunch of copies when it was released.

The Chevrolet Pro-Touring book seems to continue to sell at a decent rate and has been reprinted once already.

Man.. I'm putting my copy in the safe...

You think the problem was calling "Restomod" Instead of Pro-Touring like you wanted?

It's possible. I know the Ford owners can read, look at pictures and work on cars, so I can only assume Ford owners don't normally modify their cars like Chevy guys will. Or marketing wasn't done well.

Come on Tony, you know the real reason. Even back then, the Mustang was considered a chick car...just like today.

jk....maybe? :seizure:

Hey ford guys do like pro-touring! =) what sucks is I loaned my copy out and never got it back =( I guess I will search ebay for a copy

Damn True

Yup seems like there are a whole lot more "Mustang folks" who prefer a restoration to a modified car.

Tony you need to do a book on GM Powertrain L-series engines. The ones originally written were for LS engines and are getting a bit dated. There's so much out there now on powerplants like the LQ4, LQ9, L92, etc.

Perhaps Gen III/IV family of engines.

Sorry, being picky.

Or they don't need a book, they can just figure out themselves. :naughty:

Yeah. I've seen them. It's soooo hard to keep books like that from getting "dated" in a hurry.

Hey instead of being bummed, why not realize you wrote a book and it sold 6000 copies. That's no small feat and you should be proud. Sure, you wanted it to do better but still 6000 copies sold of a book you wrote. That's excellent I think. Maybe one day it will turn out to be a highly sought after elusive book.

I'm with WS6 Tony! How many of us have written even one book? AND had it published? AND sold 6000 copies? Even if you hadn't written more financially successfull books you should be mighty proud of that one! Good luck with the BBC one!

Hey Brandon,

You can go to Ebay. Amazon can't sell you any new ones, but they had a couple of used ones for sale. If those don't work for you, you can click the little image in my signature...just below my name.

Well, it's a book on how to rebuild Big Blocks. It's a step-by-step book. Here's where it's different... Unlike the HP Books rebuild book...It's not 30 years old! It covers building using high performance parts. It's completely in color. The photography is clear. I think that's it. I'm building a stock engine and a 496 at the same time to show differences.

Tony,

I have a copy of the book and enjoyed it. I don't know
what your intellectual property arrangements are with SA,
but you might look at getting the copyright back and
publishing small runs through something like http://www.lulu.com/.

Michael

Tony sorry to hear that more Ford guys didn't appreciate the hard work you did.

The GM book is what brought me to this site, and when the Ford book came out I had to get it. I just may have to pick up another for giggles if nothing else.

Thank you Tony!! I just recieved both #121 and #41 and at a glance they are very informative and well written. The info will prove to be very helpful in constructing my cougar. Now... I must be alone with this book.

I just picked up the chevy version of the book about a week ago. I have not been able to put it down and have used it about ten times so far as a referance in my own car. Awesome book!!!
