A friend had a new GTO with Fikse wheels and was wanting to get rid of them. I was wondering might they fit on my 1972 chevelle? I know the bolt pattern is almost the same. Any imput would be awsome! :screwy:

The GTO wheel uses a 5x120mm pattern, similar to the Holden Monaro, not the traditional 5x4.75" (120.65mm) pattern if I'm not mistaken. The 5x120mm pattern is common with BMW and some will say run it because it's close enough, others will say don't because the added risk isn't worth it.
For what it's worth, I happen to fall into the latter category, but that's just me. I've seen too many overly-engineered things fail when properly applied that it just doesn't make sense to add a bending load to your wheel studs, no matter how slight. I'll get off my soap box now.

The back spacing will be wrong and I think adapters will be needed. If so have them made to fit the correct bolt patterns.

Agreed that the offset will probably not be correct, but I'm not really sure what the new GTOs have for backspacing. Find out what size those Fikses are and what offset/backspace and then we can figure out what kind of spacer you need (if you need one at all).
I feel that the bolt pattern is just fine. .6 mm is almost nothing and I don't think you are causing any kind of excessive stress to the lugs by installing these on your car. You have to think about production tolerances on aftermarket wheels, old cars, etc. , and I wouldn't be surprised if some wheels or bolt flanges don't really measure EXACTLY 4 3/4".
FWIW, I had a set of M3 wheels on the front of my car for some testing, and the car was much smoother at high speeds than with my Torque Thrust II wheels (and they were both balanced properly), and I didn't notice anything strange when installing the lugs.

OE GTO wheels came in 17" and 18" varieties, both were 8" wide IIRC and had 48mm offset. I'll second the adapter comment per Shep above.

not according to ls1gto.com. The battle rages daily over there about whether BMW wheels will fit.
Generally speaking, however, i have yet to hear of a failure attributed to running 5x120 on 5x4-3/4 studs.

LOL
just torque them evenly, to the proper spec and check then often.
