Would it be worth the money to convert to a roller cam motor on a 78 pickup motor. I want more duration and lift without anyone noticing.
I would like the car to stay quiet, kinda like a sleeper. If I'm correct you can do that with a hydraulic roller motor.

I think it's absolutely worth the extra money to convert. On a small block I went from a 218/224 112* hyd to a 218/224 112* hyd roller and the differance was amazing. The roller acts like a bigger cam since the roller lifters can start the lift sooner (and lift the valves faster, too)that the flat tappet can. Because of this, a roller cam can't be compared to a flat tappet with the same dur @ .050 figures.

On the other hand, I've read where the hyd flat tappet cam actually pulls more torque if the cams are under 230* @ .050 lift. I dunno, I've never had an engine dyno'd.

I'd say go for it!
