Are they the same/different, are the "backspacing" of the rotors the same/different?
Thanks

They are similar in that both the LS1 and C5/C6 rotors are 305mm x 26mm with 190mm integral drum-in-hat style parking brakes. Also, the LS1 and C5 calipers have 45mm bore (C6 are 43mm), single-piston calipers. The caliper bodies are interchangeable as they have the same pin spacing, but you will need to get creative with the anti-rattle springs as those aren't the same and the C5 spring will interfere with the LS1 pads (different as well).

The LS1 rotor has straight cooling vanes versus curved or pillar on the C5/C6 rotors. The LS1 rotor offset dimensions are deeper by about .53" for the friction surface and about .84" for the internal drum. This was necessary to accomodate c-clip removal on the F-bodies if I'm not mistaken.

Hope that helps,

Tobin,

Am I correct in assuming that in order to use the LS rear backing plate / parking brake with the C5 calipers that you must change to the LS series discs?

Thanks!

Yes, you must use the LS1 rotors with the LS1 backing plates for proper parking brake shoe/drum engagement. You can fudge it to work with C5 rotors using spacers...but getting full shoe engagement with the parking brake is a different story as you'll still need to accommodate c-clip removal.

Apogee,

Thanks for the response. I already have a C5 rotor set, looks like I'll have to look around for a good LS1 rear set. I will be using the C5 calipers ( redrilled already) and the LS backing / parking brake assembly.

Thanks for clrearing this up, I thought I had read on other forums or posts that this was the case.
