Is this car for real? Never heard of a pace car coupe.

Well, The Z10s are not Pace cars technically, but are often referred to as Pace Cars. Most we low option small block cars, so this one is a bit rarer. Z10s were built for Mid West dealers. I have a article I did on them somewhere here I will try to dig up.

I have been away from the resto game for a while, but back in the day when someone asked about value, the program option 147 response was that the car may be worth 10% to 20% more then a comparable equally optioned RS / SS. Back in the day they were no particularly sought after, but are different enough to make great conversation pieces.

I can tell you a couple facts though.

Everyone thinks every Pace Car is THE Pace Car at the local cruise night.

I had a couple PACE CARS, and they were the second most popular car I ever owned, and being in the business, one of my perks has been I was afforded the opportunity to have owned a lot of pinnacle muscle cars. Everyone LOVES a Pace Car! And has a story to tell about the one he had, or the one his friend had, or the one his enemy had! Z10s may not get the same response, but are sure to create conversation.

BTW, Every time I tell someone the pace Car was my second most popular car, I am asked what was number one

The year was 1987. The car, A Red / Black 1968GT500KR Convertible! Actually it was kind of slow, ran 14.60 at the dragstrip, but absolutely the most popular car by a long shot. Unbelievable reaction from that car

I don't want to steal the thread, but that is THE one I wish I still had. In 1987 I stepped up and paid all the money and a bag of chips at $14K, turned down unsolicited offers for a couple years till I got a $36K offer to hard to resist! Today, a original paint, al matching, 40,000 miles car.........................$250K????

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming

Mine was a $3500 1970 LS6 Chevelle that I did not buy because the quarters were rusty and it had a white interior.
