Well, I thought I'd send out an invitation for folks to come to the next BSCC (Bremerton Sports Car Club) autocross event on April 13. I'll be there with my Merkur (along with a bunch of other Merkur nuts) and I'd love to see and meet some PT folks as well.

You can get info about BSCC and the autocross at: http://www.bscc.net/ . You don't have to be a member to come to the event (though after attending, you're automatically be a member). "Membership" is free. Most events will get you 4-5 runs for your $25-$35. There are AM and PM sessions. It's a really laid back vibe and a very welcoming club of folks.

BTW, there are a few cars that come that really have that PT vibe... here are a couple pics:

And this crazy old guy with absolutely no experience randomly brought out this dead stock totally original Cougar:

(that's the crazy old guy at the back of the car).

And if that guy can come out and dodge cones, anyone can, so come on out!

Hmmmm I just might bring the wife's Focus out for that one. My dad was a member of BSCC way back in the early 70's. I still have some of his dash plaques from back then.

Definitely! Bring it and have a blast. I'm always amazed that modern stock cars are often much more capable that prepared older cars... kinda sad really, but cool too.

BTW, When did imageshack start that "only registered users" crap? Dammit! And I liked that place a lot. May be time to find a new hosing service.

Oh wow! It's not imageshack causing the problem... its this site. Wacky! That's good though... I really like imageshack a lot for hosting.

I hope its not as cold and wet as it has been. I have a Honda S2000 I track and it may be a good fun to try an autocross. If its not too cold I'll be there. Wet is ok. Any one bring an EZ Up to these?

I hear ya about it being cold and wet. The Friday session I went to a few weeks ago was both. Driving in the wet was wicked fun, but standing around and chasing cones in the cold for an hour sucked majorly. And yes, you're welcome to bring an EZ-up if you'd like and there is plenty of room to set one up. Basically you set up on either side of the entrance road and there is plenty of room to set up. But to be honest, things move pretty quick. You're either running or you're working (i.e. chasing cones or whatever). There is an hour for lunch after the morning session if you're registered for the afternoon session.

BTW, if you're planning to come, pre-register and register for Time Only, either morning or afternoon (or both).

I really hope to see folks there. If you do come, be sure to look for me... I'll be the fat guy, shaved head, goatee, white XR4Ti. Actually, there are two of us that fit that description... just ask if who you're talking to is Wyatt.

Thnaks for the input. I hope to make it out and I'll look for you. As a side note, there are many autocrosses in the Everett area that you may attend if you are inclined and prefer not to drive so far. I can give you the contact info if you are interested.

If you're referring to the events that happen at Boeing up there, I think they've been halted or will be soon. It seems that the new management of the site has decided that such events "pose an unreasonable risk". I'm not sure if they meant liability risk, security risk, business risk, or what. With their huge push to get the voluminous orders for the new jet out, I can understand that they don't want to be concerned with whether there is adequate parking for the tripled shifts.

I brought out our 02 e46 M3 a few years ago. I think my dad will be bring out his PT 69 Trans Am to this event.

Yeah I was referring to the Boeing events. Too bad they may close it down. I know a lot of people that go out there regularly. I am more of a track junky but have wanted to try autox.

Wicked! Bring it... bring whatever... just come run.

They do auto-x and track days at Bremerton. Lots of different organizations use the complex, so there are lots of opportunities if you want 'em. I'm new to all of this myself, but I'm tired of being on the sidelines and wanted to get started, so auto-x it is. I hope to do a track day this year and maybe a hill climb. But in the meantime, I'm gonna try to hit an auto-x every month.

Well it was packed today... had to be 150 cars in the AM run group. Almost too big, but we got 4 runs anyway. I wore my pro-touring/g-machine.com shirt to make myself more visible, but no one said anything (except one lady who drives the 'vette I posted above, and I think she was trying to give me crap).

I did meet one guy with a very nice Camaro I think you guys might like:

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://img61.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img2051vn2.jpg)

Very nice guy (I think he said he's been on p-t.com before but isn't active). It was a very cool car, sounded great, and looked phenomenal. It was his first event, but I think he had fun and enjoyed the experience. I think there is the potential for a lot of improvement in the times he posted. My XR was quicker by a good bit.

Here's my white XR and my friend Sean's black XR (his car is freaking sweet!):

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://img87.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img2036dd7.jpg)

Sean's car is pretty well prepped and he was running my 215/45 Falken Azenis autocross tires. He's running big sway bars, uprated springs, poly bushings all around, solid mounted diff and rear beam with a BMW E36 lsd diff (3.90 gears), camber/toe shims, and is very well tuned. His best was 48.036 sec. with one cone (2 second penalty).

My car is getting there... poly bushings all around, progressive rate Eibach street springs, big sway bars, stock open diff (3.64 gears) with weak stock mount and beam mounts, and on 205/45 street Yokohamas. Unfortunately it started raining during my session, so I only got 2 dry runs and did a best 52.287 seconds, clean (no penalty). The last two runs were wet and slippery, resulting in progressively slower times. However, while most folks were adding 2-4 seconds to their times, I actually "improved", only adding 0.5 and 1.5 seconds on each successive run. Not bad.

If you were there post up...

When's the next event? We got halfway through installing a TKO600 Transmission behind the new motor in his 69 TA and realized they didn't send the X member they were supposed to send.

Next BSCC event is Monday, May 26... Memorial day. There is a practice day the day before (Sunday, May 25). I'm likely to be at both.

Hope to see some folks there.:box2:
