just came across this video on gminsidenews

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3396

I been following all the spy pics recently (I think) and I don't remember ever seeing a spoiler like that! Looks pure aggressive under that tarp. :attn:

I'm not feeling the spoiler. That thing looks hideous. I like the body kit though. What supplier is doing this kit?

I had actually heard a rumor that Roush Industries might be doing body kits for Camaro.

I don't like "off deck" spoilers either. There's gotta be a better one out there.

I can not wait to drive one of those and that spoiler should have the look of 1st gen.

I wonder if they are going to do a road race car version to compete with mustangs?

I borrowed this. But if they make a version like this i would sell my soul for it.

It's a cardboard insert. Not the real Grille. And it's an accessory too, not production.

Some people just cannot be pleased. Remember when there wan't a Camaro at all to piss and moan over? Let alone one that clearly looked something like a 60s model on steriods? Remember that? Remember how everyone looked at the last iteration of the Camaro and people laughed and said it looked like a big Geo Storm??

Thanks for making it at all GM.

On behalf of The General....you're welcome. LOL!!!

Yeah, you can't make everyone happy...that's just the way it is. I remember the first time I ever saw the clay model over at Design North. They had Mark Stielow's Mule in the studio and were studying it for design cues. I couldn't believe it, I was in shock. Ask Charley about that, I was exchanging PM's with him about it. At the time I was so blown away by what I saw that I never could have imagined anyone not liking it. I guess I was wrong.

But I believed then and still do to this day that we made the right decision by going with a evolutionary design with touches of retro instead of just doing a full blown retro design. If you haven't noticed by now...the only people that don't like it are the ones who belly-ached that it wasn't retro enough. And those people (whether they care to admit it or not) are in the minority.

But again, the one thing that scares me about this car is the price. If Chrysler sells the 5.7 hemi version of the Challanger for under $30K.....Camaro will be in trouble before the first one off the line has a chance to leave the parking lot at the assembly plant.

A friend of mine had a camaro on order but canceled because of the cheapness of the interior and the exorbitant price.

Huh? The showrooms don't have Camaros yet so how could he have sat in one and got a feel for it? The prototypes driving around the Tech Center and the one I got a close up look at in the Engineering Center garage didn't even have the official interior in them yet. As far as I know Holden is still doing the math surface for the interior. And no offical pricing has been announced either.

You sure your friend isn't pulling your leg?

Well then you can inform your friend that he is a dumbass on three counts:

a) Putting a deposit down on an as yet unreleased car. - Thanks jerk, you are driving up the prices for other people.

b) Cancelling it based on his opinion of the interior that not only has he not seen, NOBODY THAT WORKS AT GM HAS SEEN.

c) Cancelling based on the price, which has yet to be set and even if it had how can you say it's too much if the car has yet to be compared to anything?

Yeah. I remember the cancelling of the Camaro.. I have a been Gm guy all my life, Now a 60's somewhat it does but also if they were listening to public opinions, ideas this car might really turn out cool. To me it needs to be an almost copy of the original, like the Mustang and the new Challenger... I have a hard time beleiving that with the new ZR1 Vette coming out this is the best idea for a Camaro they can come up with....

Oh by the way I personally loved the 4th gen Camaros on my list the 2nd best Camaro body style....

Anyway everyone as an opinion....

Mr. Vengeance, how about trying to put a rear spoiler on one of those chops that resembles a first gen??

Someone had to put the right spoiler on it. (why yes, those are "dog dish" rims on it.)

Amazing how a more understated simple ducktail spoiler helps out sooo much. The body kit just adds more to a hefty look. Look how tall that back end is.... I do like the chin and a minimal cowl hood helps too. Wow, 26" dog dishes-eeek!

If you want an old Camaro, buy an old Camaro. This is a NEW Camaro. It does not have to look like an old one does it?

TonyL
04-06-2008, 08:29 AM
since it already looks so much like the old one, It's inevitable that someone will give it the full retro treatment. They did it with the mustang too.

Mr.VENGEANCE

i HAVE and old camaro.. i like it more than the new one.

BUT.. its pretty tantalizing.
