Alright - here's the deal guys... Customer wants to do an "Enduroshine" finish on a cross ram intake manifold... Edelbrock told him the manifold to too big to fit in their vacumme chamber...

Anyone know of a place that can do this ?

Location is in southern California...

Steve ? anyone ? any ideas ???

I think I have seen what your talking about at Specialized Ceramic & Powder Coating in Huntington Beach. I think it's called Chromex, but not sure how close it matches the Endurashine finish. Another shop did not recommend Chromex and said it did not yield consistent results. Specialized had a couple pieces in their show room and they looked good to me.

Another idea is to just get the piece fully polished and then do a clear ceramic coat so you don't have to polish again in the future. Specialized should have more info on that too.

The guy does not want to powder coat it... he owns a powder coating business... he was specific about vacumme metalizing...

That is the place used both by Edelbrock for Endura Shine and by Weiand for EverBright.

Well they are the ones that do it for the companies that I mentioned. I guess keep calling until you find someone that will.

I talked to a lot of people at SEMA about this process for my own project and learned most shops only do high-volume work not piecemeal for the hobbyist. For example they'll talk to you if you have 500 sets of wheels to coat, but not 4. Call these guys:

http://www.americanpvd.com/

When I talked to their reps last year they did say they'd coat with the endurashine process for the ordinary Joe off the street with just a few parts. Hopefully that hasn't changed since that last time I talked to them.

I am currently awaiting a replay from the PVD guys... hopefully they will be more helpful and not ass rude as the guys at VacMet

It looks like Olympic Powder Coatings has purchased Vacuum Metal Coatings in Santa Ana. I have used them before with good results. You can find them on the web at http://www.olympicpowdercoating.com/. Follow the link to the vacuum coatings instead of the powdercoat.
