Unfortunately the rims i want only come in 17" or 20" no in between sizes.
so either i go all 17" or do a combo.

all 20"s is too big i think on a 70 chevelle.

just my opinion... 17"-20" dosen't look right, to much difference

I agree, 17/20 combo's kinda look silly.

yeah, i figured as much.
who makes affordable rims that have a pro-tour look? i don't want to drop 3k on rims alone.

Go 17" all around, if they are available wide enough for the rear.

cheers

Or call it even with 18's all the way around to still stay pro-touring diameters. The 17/20 combo is a very Street Rod, 32 Ford fitment.

His desired rims only come in 17 or 20 (see first post). And there is nothing not "pro-touring" about 17s.

I'd go with 17's all around before I'd do a 17/20 stagger. There's going to be way too much of a tire sidewall difference between a 17 and 20.

What rims are you going with? Only 17's or 20's....
I don't know, 17's are just so small by todays standards... they come stock on mini-coopers and honda civics. But to each his own..... better than his alternative of a 20" wheel on all four corners.

IMO 20's look pretty silly on darn near anything.

thanks everyone. my notion was right 17-20 is retarded.
all 20's is retarded
all 17's is lame.
i am looking for other rims, if you see my post "new rims - need help finding some", please reply there.

I have a set of 18" Foose Legends in stock right now, with tires I need to blow out. How does 1700 with tires sound?? It's the same sale price we ran on this forum last month:

just as a side note...saying all 17s is lame is a bit unfair. I think it's all in how you package them. Example: https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

I mean, maybe that's lame to you...I dunno.

I don't think there is anything wrong with 17's all around. I know it isn't the most exotic thing these days, but it still looks good on our cars and they are more affordable than the larger sizes. Also think about tire availability and pricing when you are wheel shopping.

I myself am in the process of upgrading my 17" Torque Thrust II wheels to some 18" Fikse wheels. I will not go bigger than 18" on my cars, because I just think the sidewall gets too small if you go any larger. That is unless you want a 28" tall tire or something like that, but I like to keep my tires limited to 26".

As for the original question: I'd say 17" all around and no 20"s at all

18x7 4" backspace, and 18x9 with a 5.25" backspace.
Tires are a 235/40 and 275/40.

I get my car back from the chassis shop tomorrow. Let me get some measurements and I will be in touch. They just might work. Thanks,

I have a total of 6 TTII wheels right now, and I had 4 more that I already sold a while back!! I'm not sure if the ones on my car right now would be of much use to you due to their size/offset.

The fronts are 17X9.5" with 6.5" backspacing and the rears are 17X11" with 7.75" backspacing. My car has DSE rear tubs with a stock width rearend and a AME front subframe that require the deep offset. I'll probably be keeping the 11" wheels to use to mount a set of drag radials.

I also have a set of 17X9.5" wheels with 5.5" backspacing that are perfect for the rear of a 1st gen. I'd be willing to sell those.

Not sure on pricing, make an offer.

I think 18 20 is too big a difference but lots of guys are doing it... I thinks Staggered height doesn't look good on most cars
