osiris died, was resurrected a couple of days later and ascended to heaven.(the egyptian version anyway) IIRC he was then a "judge: of who entered and who went to "hell", which is where you get peter at the gates.
the pagan holidays vary but are based on the spring equinox (sometimes the first full moon after it). the symbols of easter--the egg and the hare, come from a central european goddess. the pagans celebrated the "return of life" ie crops growing after the winter, and animals giving birth.
sorry but i can't think of a catholic holiday that wasn't stolen from pagans. (although i'm sure i'm forgetting at least one)
halloween and christmas are the other 2 big ones.

Dionysus died and was also brought back from the dead. Actually when the roman Emperor Constantine was choosing a religion for the Roman Empire it was between Jesus and Dionysus
