After 37 years a Los Angeles man may finally get his stolen Mustang back.
Eugene Brakke was recently told by the San Diego Police Department auto theft unit that his 1965 Mustang was found in their city, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
In 1970 Brakke reported it stolen and filed a report with the Burbank Police Department, the newspaper reported.
Police told the newspaper that a San Diego woman was given the Mustang as a high school graduation gift from her father in 1970. When she recently tried to sell it, she learned it was stolen.
But, according to the woman, it is unclear if Brakke wants to car back, because he told her it is "just not the same," the newspaper reported.

My 68 camaro was stolen in the early 70's. Thieves made it about 15 miles out of town, but luckily it was raining. They slid off the road and got stuck, no damage , got it back the next day. I couldn't imagine them getting away with it and it turning up now. If it was me, I would still want the car and want their asses in jail. I hate thieves.

Had mine stolen back in 1983. I was not happy, but the police called the next day and told us where it was. My father and I went and picked it up, no impound yard or towing. It pays to know someone in the department.

My 68 SS was stolen in 93. Man, I guess it was a good year amongst thieves. I still have the original plates.

A few years back when I was investigating a GTO JUDGE in a junkyard. I talked with a Virginia State Trooper who told me of a 63 or 64 Corvette stolen months after being bought new. It wasn't noticed until the DMV went computerized and was sold again recently. The purchaser lost the car and the money (I guess). The vette was turned over to the Insurance company who in turn contacted the original owner asked him if he wanted to buy the car back. He said, sure how much? and they told him just what was payed out in the claim.....something like $3000.

Sounds like a good story, I hope it true. Somebody needs to catch a break.
