Im taking paint off my car and will not be painting anytime soon. Can i get away with rattle can epoxy primer to cover it up so that it doesnt get any surface rust? My compressor is not powerful enough to run a spray gun. Any advice on appling it or anythingesle i can apply to prevent surface rust? I also have some dark brown spots that are tough to get to, Im assuming these are rust. If i cant get these out, what should i put on them? thanks for any help.

use a good quality self-etch primer for now. lay down a thin coat. if you can find some, look for Keystone brand, they specialize in replacement auto body parts. or if they have it, get epoxy. what ever you use, just take it all back off before you go through the painting process

get epoxy. 'regular' primer wont keep the moisture out

another thing you can do is use an automotive primer with a brush or roller still works just a little more sanding atleast you know you have a good seal. or if you have an hvlp you can turn the air way down you'll get a lot more orage peel but nothing too bad just some thoughts

Another option is to use Gibbs penetrant. spray or wipe it on from a spray bomb and no need to sand it off like spray bomb primer when you're ready. this is some good stuff...
