Hey Guys,

Name's Dave (if it wasn't obvious from the SN) and I have been lurking on here for a little while. Decided to just go for broke and jump feet first into the pro-touring lifestyle. :jump:

I have always been an avid drag racer being partial to odd-ball motors - 403 Olds in particular. That's what powers the Cutlass with another one in the works. The current one is 549 Horse and the one on the way should be every bit of 700 when it hits the dyno.

My '06 BOM GTO is one of my babies and I LOVE that car so much...which just happen to lead me to start thinking about building a pro-touring car. My '78 TA is a very rust free car. I wanted to figure out a way to make a g-machine that was comfortable like the GTO, got good gas mileage like the Goat but had the Bandit feel. Since I can NEVER afford one of the Burt Reynold's Edition Trans Ams from Year One, I figured "Why not build one!??!"

So this is what I am setting out to do. It will be chronicled on here and on LS1tech.com...as well as some Pontiac sites. By now I guess you have figured out what powerplant its getting...As of about two hours ago I purchased an LS1/4L60E combo with all the goodies for what I felt was a very reasonable price.

I any event, I am planning on a several stage process that will start by getting the LS1/4L60E fitted and fired up in the TA, then removed and the restoration continued. I started doing some body work last summer and plan to do every aspect of this car myself, including paint...yes it will be black and will have tasteful Bandit queues. It will ride on 245/45-17 fronts and 275/40-17 rears wrapping Y1 Billet Snowflakes. Pro-Touring Fbody Suspension upgrades will be dropping the car 2 inches all the way around with tubular arms up front and Caltracs in back. I am going to attempt the projector beam headlights since I really like the look a lot. The best upgrade will be the one I didn't mention yet - a Magnasun MP112 Blower atop the LS1. I will be fabbing my own shaker base to keep it doing what it does best...showing off...

I will be looking for a lot of help along the way but can't wait to get this project started...

Below are some pics of my junk:

No TA pics just yet but will be starting a build thread real soon.

Thanks!!!

welcome to a fellow ROP member..

my 403 is coming back from the machine shop soon. although it will be a lowly street motor, only 450 ft lbs or so...
