OK so the 1970 Chevy NOVA is starting to be a popular car so I thougth I would share one of our latest builds with all. We are building this car for everyday driving and some track time so its mild but will sit very cool.

I will post pics of the build as we go but here are some of the products we are using

GM Performance LS7 engine
GM Perfromance 4L65E tranny
Chris Alston's Chassie works full sub frame set up
Currie 9-inch rear end
Wilwood 6 Piston brakes
Air Ride Technologies air system
Fesler FS 905 wheels 19X9.5 front & 19X12 rear
Michelin 285/35ZR19s front & 345/30ZR19 rear

still deciding on lots of other parts but as you can see this will be one sick NOVA when completed. I will try to update as we move along.

OK so we tear the car down to nothing and send it out to be meda blasted and than sealed so it cant rust while we do the work on it.

Cut out any rust and remove the frame rails as we are going to build a custom tub

We start by fitting the new frame rails into the car so we know where the tubs will go

Fesler built
03-12-2008, 09:17 AM
here we cut the floor out for the frame rails and will have to rebuild it to look factory

We are not like most shops we build everything, we built the H1 Alpha in the back ground for a guy and now we are building a hard top for it and Air bagging it so it will ride better, I will post some pics when done but here is what we did so far. http://www.feslerbuilt.com/2006H1Alpha.htm

wow...thats sick for a Nova!!!! Im kinda going for the same approach, however Im doing mine in my garage....Dont have the funds or the tools...but Im doing my best!!!

Question.....How will you join the outwheel wells to the quarter?
Im adding a rubber stripe along the edge so you dont hear metal on metal then I will add sealer too....

what should I do?

check out my Nova!!!

The outer wheel wells are welding into place so there is no chance of them moving, drill spot welds about every 2 inches or so where they meet up and weld them, seam seal and its ready for paint. This will make it very strong even better than what you started with.

Looks like a cool project and remember we all started somewhere so keep it up. These forums are the best place to learn things and meet great people so if you are not sure how to do something or want more ideas just through up a post and everyone will help you out. Good luck

I am trying to set new standards on how fast cars are built and I think at this rate I can build a car every two weeks. :lmao:

With that being said we really have about a month in this project so far and would think it should be completed in under 6 months. I have a great group of guys and we mesh very well together so things move fast. It also helps when you do everything in house you can control the progress of each build with less problems

No Chuck here, sorry

You guys are jammin' on this thing! Keep up the great looking work.

I am particularly interested in seeing what you do for your upper shock mounts. When you get there, please post detailed pics of the underside and trunk area, as I am at this point in my project '72 Nova. I'm also interested to see how you deal with the crossmember that I have outlined in red below when you do your shock mounts. Thanks!

As you can see like you stated that the body was clean this car was a AZ car so barely any rust on it just had to get some dents out and weld some holes up. The hood did have the front edge all rusted out and not sure why its if it was from a car back east.

Think its going to be a new Silver color just havent finalized it yet. Will update the progress as we move forward.

Well we have less than 3 weeks till SEMA and we are on the NOVA now to see how far we can get. We just got it out of paint and it looks sick. Follow along up till SEMA to see the progress of the car, I will try to add pictures every few days.

So basically everything that the pads don't touch stays black much like a normal zinc washed rotor that only rusts where the pads contact the rotor?

Did you guys fab a new outer wheel house all the way to the 1/4 panel or use the OEM section that welds to the wheel lip? I dont see any welds on the lip which made me think you worked off of that piece.. I have my wheel tubs all cut out and just trying to figure out a way to raise the wheel house so I can go lower with bigger wheels. I like the way you jaust made the whole thing I just cant figure out a way to make that outer piece..

:jawdrop:Where did you get that dash panel and how can I get my hands on one? It looks like it is metal and I am not terribly fond of my plastic covans dash...

I was wondering the same thing.

And the car is coming along very nicely! Great job! :smoke:

We hand built it out of steel if you go back in the post you can see the building of it. We are working on getting them poped in Carbon Fiber right now and will now something soon.....

We can do steel but they are very expensive to build as it takes a few days.

Sometimes when tubbing the rear end or with particular suspension setups you loose the back seat due to space.

There is a video on our home page that shows the car up and down so you can see the lift it gets. you raise it up about 2 inches and you can drive so it drives nice and low and clears everything.
