Anybody ever to try to use spray paint form a can to paint the metal pieces of the interior? I'm trying to paint on a budget so I can get the car back together for right now until I can afford a better paint job later. In a Camaro there really isn't a lot of metal to paint for the interior other than the dash area and the little bit of metal along the back windows.

I knew someone to do same thing back in the day. The paint started to chip and peel, and fade. Unless they have some kind of auto spay paint for the interrior I would just save up. Or get some one to make one for you like Im trying to do.
good luck

back in the day, I used model car spray. I was 17 and broke but it looked pretty good and held up well.

Duplicolor is pretty good for off the shelf colors. I've used paintscratch.com for those harder to find. A little more money but they match colors good and have rattle cans available (both single stage and BC/CC).

I did mine with Duplicolor, its been red for over 2 years and no problems. Before that it was gloss black for 8 years done with same paint

Another vote for the Duplicolor. I found it worked best when you scuff sand the original metal or paint, lay down a primer, then apply a few coats of the rattle can.

Rust Oleum Semi Gloss Black is perfect color but takes FOREVER to dry. Duplicolor is a little better dry time. Krylon Semi flat back is a bit flatter and drys right now which is a huge advantage for possible dust.

You can go to a paint shop and they can put actual auto paint of any color you want into an aerosol can. Ive done it in the past to color match small parts that I didnt feel the need to mix a cup of paint to spray. I used it on small parts and not a whole dash but If you spray it right, you can always color sand and buff it if its gloss or if its semi gloss just spray it and be careful not to get sags.

Ditto the above. This was for a '65 Impala, the paint shop had the original paint color and recipies and they mixed, and put it into a spray can. Matched perfectly

Go to wal-mart and buy their gloss cans that are about 94 cents. I havent actually painted an entire 79 camaro, 79 F150, a YZF600r, and dozens of car parts with this stuff. Put on about 6 coats and buff/wax it and it will last forever.
I got my firebird about 2 years ago. Sanded it down to bare metal, put new shetmetal on, entire roof was surface rusted from vinyl top, sanded it entirely down to metal. Was going to rain that day and i had 6 cans of gloss black from painting an old hood. Wiped the whole car down with laquer thinner then I sprayed the entire car with a 'cover' coat to protect it from the rain. To this day 2 years later the paint is still on there with no rust through. there is a pic of in it my sig with 6 cans of paint the absolute thinnest you could coat a car with and it still held up.
I never waxed the paint or anything so it's dull but still i'm amazed there is no rust through from bare metal as it sat in the weather over a year.
Anything you want to paint i would suggest atleast 4 coats. This paint dries fast between coats. I painted a set of ZR1s with it and they were fine the two years i had them. Brake dust is pretty hard on paint too.
Rust-Oleum #7777, I have been using that and I love the finish. Preperation is the key take your time.
