Hey, I'm Dave and glad I found this forum. I am a regular on S10forum(same name). I have a 98 Chevy Blazer that I'm building to haul on track and auto-x courses. I have already been to one auto-x, and far in the future plan to hit some track days.

I'm in a car-club that has mostly imports and small cars, so hopefully I can show a few people up with a truck.

Anyways here's a mod list and 10lbs of pictures in a 9lb bag

Current WIPs:
Custom Center Console, Custom Fiberglass Brake Ducts, Fiberglass Skidplate Copies(for aero), and a few other odds and ends, Rollpan, and frame notch

Plans:Qa1 Coilovers for the front, QA1 Shocks out back with JTR Lowering Blocks, Eaton Posi, get the rollpan welded up, Racing seats/harness/rollcage, C5 Brakes all around, and maybe eventually some wide ass ZR1 (9."5F/11"R) Wheels with some R-comps, Aluminum Driveshaft(T-Case Delete)
Eventually I plan to sell the V6/4L60E combo and get an Ls1-T56 Combo.

The main weak points of the car so far is the stock front springs(replaced by QA1 which will drop about 70-80lbs), and the lack of a posi. On the autox my car will load all the weight to the front springs, and out of every corner im spinning TONS of inside rear tire.

Here's a few more pics with my car club

Only thing stopping me is a college kid's budget.

Hey what's up. I kind of ran out of things learn at S10forum so I'm trying to find new forums that will have the technical info and help I need.

As far as weight reduction, yeah it's pretty naked compared to stock right now. In the cab there's Just a B&M Shifter, 2 seats and the dash, soon to have a center console. Rear Seats, seatbelts, spare and jack are all gone. I'm hoping to make this thing as simple and lightweight as possible. I still have to ditch the transfer case, and hopefully some day get lightweight spindles with Corvette hubs and eliminate the CV stub

I have a brand new AGR 12:1 Steering box coming in the mail to replace the tired-ass 1990 Trans-Am 12:1 box I have right now. Can't get the damn thing to go straight right now

Very nice blazer....

I understand wanting the weight reduction, but why did you swap to an AWD t-case ?.... And if I'm not mistaken there are kits out there in the SY, TY, communities to convert to vette brakes on all 4 corners.....

Do you mean didn't get the AWD transfer case? I still have the stock 4wd transfer case, I need a new D-Shaft and tailshaft in the tranny for that to get pulled.
First off that's alot of extra $$$ for AWD, which is the ultimate governing factor, but mostly I just didnt want the extra weight and maintenance with AWD, this thing is a blast RWD and can fit 305s stock in the rear, with a posi I should have some pretty solid traction.

I eventually want to end up with an LS1/T56 Combo with an aluminum driveshaft. Ill probably do a few bolt ons for the LS1, but nothing major.
If I can get this thing down to 3000 lbs or less it will cook with 400HP or more. It already feels pretty quick with the probably 260-280HP and 300+ft/lbs of torque, with an easy 300lbs of weight I could still stand to lose.

I know there are conversions for C5 Brakes, but I want to go with aluminum spindles that have a C5 Style hub, so I can get rid of the extra rotating mass that my CV stub has and get a lighter simpler setup.
My 4WD Blazer Spindles are ridiculously heavy.

I want to eventually sell my modded V6/Tranny both of which have less than 10k miles on them. The tranny was done up by a shop and it chirps the gears when i floor it. I figure some muscle car guy or S10 guy would die for the setup, so that will pay for the swap quite a bit. It's got forged pistons and the tranny is good to 450HP.

Once it's done I'd like to drift it too

Sorry about the typo..... I was just curious to were you were headed. I've been wanting to build an AWD 2nd gen for a few years now. Just havn't found the right blazer.
