I want to upgrade my worn out manual steering box with some type of rack and pinion set up. I am thinking about doing an LS1 conversion later on down the road and was wondering what would work on my current SB and I would still be able to use if I did the swap. I was kinda looking at the Steeroids unit, but Im not sure if everything would be compatible. THX

I assume that since you didn't mention your car, I have to guess, right? I guess first gen F-body...:poke:

You can run the BRP setup, it uses a stock 4th gen rack setup, and you have to modify your subframe. I think thier website is: www.brphotrods.com

Cool. When you say modifications to the subframe, how extensive are you talking. Would the BRP components be my best bet for the conversion? What about a rough price estimate on the conversion minus the engine and T56 tranny. Thanks.

If you e-mail or call them they will let you know. If you find a used 4th gen rack then the cost is not bad, if you can mod the subframe yourself. I think they give you instructions, but I'm pretty sure you have to cut a notch or a channel for the steering linkage.

I know www.tennesseeauto.com and Year One also sell the BRP parts, they may have some pics on thier websites.
