I am installing an LS1 and T56 in my 69 Camaro and was wondering how far back the factory T56 shifter is??

I know S&P makes a shifter for the T56 that allows you to use the factory counsole hole. But what if I decide to go with out a center counsole, can I use the stock T56 shifter location or will it be too far rearward??

Thanks

It depends on which brand engine/tranny mounts you use also. Some move it further back than others.

I don't have a center console in my '67, but the shifter is in the perfect spot for me. I am using the S&P mounts and have an Art Morrison trans crossmember. I have a B&M shifter mounted in the stock f-body location on the transmission. Here's a pic for you...
