It hit me last night just how daunting building 2 cars at one time alone can be. (Show car and Race car) You see this mountain of work to be done but can only pick one thing to work on knowing its only a drop in a barrel, forget the bucket. Or sometimes you just need another set of hands, heck someone to talk to would be nice.

I sure could use a 14-18 year old that wants to work on cars. Got to thinking about it last night, how I'd have loved to have had someone take me in to help and learn.
No experience needed, nothing to buy. Just show up.

Not a bad idea. I took Auto-shop in HS, I might contact them to see if they might have a candidate.
We had 2 girls in our class back then.

This girl posted on Hotrodders, my kinda helper. She's a good mechanic too.

It's worked for me just be careful who comes around your shop. I've had many kids and most have been great , but watch out for the bad ones!! It also can slow things down for abit but once they're going it can be a good time , I still talk to kids that help quite awhile ago. Good luck ( make sure you tell them no friends to show off too)

That is a major concern I have. You just never know.
Years ago I had my old house broken into. Not by anyone that came over, but by someone he told about what I had.

A few years ago we were racing in florida and had the shop broken into and parts taken off a race car ( carb, clutchand flywheel ) all brand new parts . I think it was a kid that was helping us and go figure I didn't see him for a long time after. I don't want to discourage you too much because I've had some great kids work for me , you've got to watch closely.

I'm living that nightmare now. Neighborhood kid used tocome over to learn/help with the cars etc and bring over his pocketbikes etc. to work on them. I think he was bragging to somebody about my stuff or something. He was the only one that knew how to break in the house the way the burglers gained access.

Now my house is empty, everything stolen while I was away a couple months. Furniture, TVs, phones, stereos, clothes, guitars, bicycles, food, cleaning supplies, appliances,...... everything! Being burglarized was bad enough but on top of that when the fridge was ripped out the water feed for the icemaker filled the house with water, then the black mold took over. this happened last summer and it'll be at least 6 more months before I can use the house again. And no it's not all covered by my ins. READ YOUR INS POLICYS!!!!

That's enough of a horror story to keep me from trying it.
