View Full Version : 69 camaro wiring questions? aftermarket or factory replacement?
Im putting together my 69 Camaro and I have gutted the wiring harness. It was hacked beyond repair. My question is should I replace it with a factory replacement or a painless style. I have factory gauges in my console and a tach in the dash I plan to retain those. If someone has done this or has any suggestions thanks in advance for the help. And post your projects I need a little motivation!!!!!

Id definitley go with a reproduction stock harness, M&H makes beautiful reproduction harnesses, they are dead on perfect in everyway. I wouldnt go with an aftermarket panel unless you need to add in alot of extra stuff. They also sell it with an ato fusepanel at an extra cost. I have installed other repro harnesses and nothing compares, hell Year One only uses them and are the only distributor that you can get the mopar harnesses from. Their site is www.wiringharness.com . I have installed harnesses from alot of companies and no one can touch them on quality, not only are every piece on them concourse correct like the right tape and color of connectors but they even have clips and stuff like that taped on in the exact correct position so you dont have to stretch or twist the harness at all to install. They drop into place and hell I cant speak enough graces of their products. IMO they are the only company that makes aftermarket PRODUCTS correctly. I say that in that there is absolutely NO modifications necessary and they fit just like the factory ones did. Cost is a bit higher for the harnesses but in the long run youll be glad you bought them

CT, what options will you be adding. There is a harness American Autowire sells that uses a fuse box that mounts in the stock location, and has mutliple extra circuits for A/C, and other aftermarket power accessories you may add. You do have some ends to terminate, but all the circuits for you particular car are there. The Classic Update has been very popular in the Pro Touring world, and we have sold loads of them to happy customers.
The only additions are MSD dist & box, electric fan, maybe later a fuel pump if I go with FI, but I doubt that at this point.
