Doesn't the show need to start before the awards are announced? Thought that last year they didn't announce until Sunday

How about this? We frame the question differently. We'll call it Riddler award *contender* pictures?
They usually leak some pics out early of the cars in contention.
(I didn't even know the show was going right now. Shows how much I know.)

It's not going on right now. All that's happening is people are bringing their cars out tonight and the event people are setting up. I think they also select the Great 8 which is all 8 cars that will be in contention for the Ridler. The show starts tomorrow and the Ridler winner is announced on Sunday.

I'm up for seeing some pictures as well. If you were in the building for setup today and got some photos of cars you think are great 8 contenders, post away!

I have heard there are some bad lookin cars. This should be the year of the first post 48 ridler winner. Neil Lea has a bad ass wagon in the show.

One of the guidelines on the show and award is that NO pics can be posted anywhere until the proceedings begin. (or so I thought and was told) The show starts today- so expect some stuff.
Id strongly suggest those pics come down- it could jeopardize their chances...
If anyone is going, please send our well wishes to Dave Tucci- he is one of the contenders and a friend. :jump:
Im also good buddies with one of the judges who my wife spoke to yesterday- said the show was insane this year (as he saw stuff moving in)

I only posted a build pic of Ferrambo which are readily available to the public on the Divers Street Rods website. But to be sure to not sway the judges I took that pic down.
Unfinished photos have no bearing on your eligibility. Remember how many pics we saw of Grand Master and Impression before the show even in magazines?
Tucci ran out of time and missed the show.
So far, i know of 4 cars picked for Great 8, Neil's wagon and the Ferrambo, No surprises there, a 32 Ford and a 56 Chrysler wagon built by JF Launier in Canada.

There's been post 48 winners in the past. A Mercedes drag car even won in the 90s.

Don’t understand why you think it was a smart ass answer.
I’ve only been to the AutoRama twice- last year I didn’t see the Riddler when I was there Saturday, so assumed it wasn’t awarded until Sunday.
Had the intention been to give a smart assed answer, I believe I would have framed it in a much more abrasive manner

Up close they are awesome. If you look down in the corner of the display by the TV you can see what one of the centers looks like. They were made from a single block of aluminum. The rotors are one off titanium impreginated aluminum. PT-wise Tims car is a winner!
Cool, two customer cars in the Great 8- Ferrambo and JF's car

Yes it is bad ass and my little buddy has worked his ass off even with a new baby at home, has had to work 90 and 100 hour weeks to get the car to the show. All the guys at rods and restos worked there asses off on this one, I can think of several 48 hour days without sleep they put in to get this car there. I am kinda pissed it didn't win but I feel he will be back at some point with something that will. Gordy and him is going to be busy with the car this year at the shows.

heres details and pics from jalopnik
The car has been shortened 8", chopped 2", the windshield laid by by 15 degrees, the dash was hand formed out of steel, custom floor pans throughout, custom wood deck in the back, and on and on. The motivation comes courtesy of a Hemi with a one off Hillborn injection system and power is delivered to a set of 24" Foose wheels out back.
