My old man is supposed to be picking up a 1954 Chevy pickup this weekend, so I have been doing some reading on the truck. One thing that I notice is that the number on the title and and the number on the door jamb match, but I doesn't look like a true VIN. I talked to the current owner and he said that he did some research and found out that some states actually assigned a number instead of the factory number. I will post some pics of the plates that are in the door jambs and also a VIN decoder on LMC truck website. Do you guys remember or have read that some states did this back then?
