I'm in the process of building a 509 BBC for my car and would like some input on what system to use. looking at Fast, Big Stuff or Mefi 4. What are you running and what are the pro's and con's? The Mefi system my son use's and tune's at his job( marine engine builder).
This is going into my chevelle that is a street / highway cruzer and a trip or so down the track.

I haven't found any issues with the Fast (and XFI) or Accel Gen VII stuff. Both very nice to work with...

If your son is close to you, I would go with the MEFI4. With EFI, having a calibrator with experience (and especially in the family) is worth far more than features. Plus, if you're not doing nitrous, turbos, etc, you don't need a lot of features. Why would you not go with that?

Iam just trying to get an idea of what is out there and the pro's and con's of what other's have used. I have EDL Pro flow on the 454 that is in the car now and there is not much you can do as far as tuining.

Ditto with Fuelie Fan's statement.

Be carefull what you ask for. Lots of adjustments can be had. Can make you go cross-eyed quickly....

If your son knows tuning, he will be able to adapt to most other systems. That's if you don't upset him first for going with something else. ;)

Yeah, while not my first choice or injection, having a tuner that knows the product is sometimes more important then the actual product features.

Personally I like both th XFI and Accel Thruster and Gen 7 line. The Thruster is my favorite system right now. The cost for the complete conversion kit including everything you need to swap from a carb is under $4000, Fast and other advanced systems are at least $500 to $1000 more for equal systems. Also, if your son is familar with injection, the Accel will be the easiest for him to figure out.

The Accel Thruster was our choice for Project EmptyNest. We have Accel and FAST available. Sorry, we do not sell the MEFI

Have you asked your son??? Pick his brain and see what he thinks. If he can punch the keys, then that'll save a big expense for having some shop tune the system.
You can drive the car, he can ride shotgun. It'd be a nice idea to take a break and detour to some cool dinner spot. Spend quality time w/the fam while the brain cools down.

I am in the process of tuning an old Accel (BDS) system. The naturally asp'd side of it was a snap, it's the boosted side that gets hairy.

Good luck.
