After readings about Boyds death I realized that just about all the bike and car shows have disappeared??
What gives? No; Rides, Overhaulin, Biker Build Off, Boyds, etc, etc
Last year they were on every night. Only one to have survived is American Chopper???
Some guys hated them but they were better than nothing.

Overhaulin will be back in April I believe, as for the others I only know that Rides didn't get renewed.

I heard Overhaulin' will have a different format to it. No more pranks and cornball narration.
Rides was cancelled and I had heard Boyd's was as well even before all this happened in January.
I'm wondering where my Deadliest Catch is. I love watching that show for some reason.
What amazes me is that American Chopper is still on the air. How have people not soured to THAT yet??!!

The Power Block is still on during the weekend and I'm pretty sure Cut, Chop, Rebuild is on too. Of course, I hardly ever watch them because I'm usually in the garage working on my own cars during the weekend!

Hot Rod TV moved again - now to Speed.

I deal with several of the vendors who 'donate' parts to those shows. Most of them that I spoke with felt that they weren't getting much product coverage because the shows were not technical enough. You might see their part flash across the screen in 1 second, but hardly any names are mentioned. The goofy antics and pranks etc.. took up more time on the show than the technical and build parts.
No donated parts, more overhead costs to the show, less profits, less general interest. I think a highly technical show that helped showcase brand names would be popular to the gearhead crowd. But, those shows were trying to appeal to beginner car enthusiasts to create more interest in the hobby.

Especially when all the real talent is jumping ship. That show got old pretty quick in my opinion.

Well even if some of those shows are corny, I still liked watching them. I think they need to bring back American Hot Rod and shoot it at Rad Rides or something for a new flare. I'm still waiting on Chip Foose to come steal my Camaro! I even leave the garage unlocked.

Overhaulin definately has a new format..i got the opportunity to talk to Chip last year briefly and he told me he was busy travelling all over the U.S for the new season..unlike mainly being in California in past seasons. He said there wouldnt be the same stolen car pranks but a format that would involve him showin up on your doorstep to get your keys! Cant wait...just wished it would of aired in the winter and not spring or summer when its nice out.

It'd be ok if he showed up on my doorstep.

Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers film in the winter so they probably won't air till like the beginnning of summer.

I wonder if there is going to be a "Bullrun" this year.
I really enjoyed that show, and would have even if one of our own wasn't on it!

Yea! i really miss those shows especially on tues nights (rides, overhaulin, wrecks to riches, etc) i do wish they would change some to different builders like rad rides, year one guys,Brizzio, etc.i really don't care for some of the dramatics like american hot rod but i just really enjoy some of the builds and most of all the hot rods.

I really like the show Gearz. It was hard to follow last season because the times kept changing. Now it's on SPEED saturday mornings at 7am. He covers all sorts of motorsports. Mainly hot rods but also gets into four wheeling, rat rods, late models, etc. Last year he put a small block ford into a mazda miata with a body kit. You would never guess it was a miata. And he loves beating on the cars when they are done!!

Maybe people finally got bored to fake drama ?

"I can't stress how important it is that we meet this deadline"! i got bored with that real fast.
They seem to cater to the lowest denominator. just cut something and make sparks fly.and have some manufactured crisis. and whats with the cut chop rebuild show? half the time i am thinking to myself "turn the damn lights on in your shop".dramatic effect is lost on me.
I did like some of the rides shows. The Jay Leno Olds was pretty good.seemed to focus more on the car than the drama.
