Hello All

This is Chris Fesler from Fesler Billet and I need some help with our Billet Hood Hinges. What I really need is everyone’s input on what we should do regarding a price increase. As many of you know we are in the works for several new applications and plan to continue making more applications and parts for the hot rod and muscle car industry.

Right now we offer our billet hood hinges standard with polished stainless steel struts as well as top of the line bearings that are far superior to any other product on the market. They come with a good warranty and we can offer them in black anodized or polished.

My question to all is with all the new applications, we are going to have to do a small increase in the price of the hinges since metal costs have gone through the roof. Because of this our profit margin has continued to shrink. Obviously we can’t make them if we can’t make money doing it. I know some of you think they are already over priced and I can understand your point of view but on the other hand they are a huge pain in the butt to design and manufacture. If they were easy everyone would make them right?

Ok, the question is: Should we do a standard price increase (10% - 15% per set) and still continue to offer the hinges standard with stainless steel struts or do we do a mild increase (3% - 5% per set) and offer the hinges standard with a black steel strut (not cheesy plastic). Of course the option to buy a set of the stainless steel struts would be available but they would cost the end user $165.

Please give us your thoughts and we can go from there on the new applications and get more applications out there for you guys. FYI – Price increase won’t be until April 1 so you will have time to still buy at the existing price.

This makes it easier to get the product on your car, and offers an option to upgrade !! :naughty:

I think the 3 - 5% increase would be more acceptable with the black strut being standard. This coming from a guy who has the black struts...they don't look bad at all IMO.

how about photos of the stainless vs black steel ones, so we can compare?

i have a good idea, convince our bosses to give us raises!
i think offering the black strut as standard with a minimal increase and an uprgade is the best option.

Both look good to me. I think I like the black ones a tiny bit more anyways.

Chris,

I feel there is a market for custom hinges that aren't as pricey. If you could modify factory hinges and replace the swing arms with billet arms, yet retain the OEM upper hood mounting flange and lower flanges, and retain a coil spring, keep the price under $400/set, I think they would be popular. The upper/lower mounting flanges in OEM steel do not bother me, but the arms being upgraded would look nice.

Just an idea.

What is retail now?$625 for Camaro, $650 for Mustang, $650 for 65-67 Chevelle, $675 for 70-72 Chevelle. All natural with stainless struts. polished or annodized $75 extra. We have sold quite a few since we started selling them.

I like the 3-5% option as well. I would prefer the black on polish look myself as it breaks it up a bit.

I am in complete agreement with the above if there was a way to discard the flimsy stock arms, add the struts, and keep the price reasonable, people would be all over them.

I will try to do the above my self if someone doesnt bring a mid priced upgrade to market. I cannot justify the cost of the full aluminum hinges at all, but my stockers are junk.
