Are you talking about 'Crazy Horse'?
The yellow and silver one that they covered on AHR?

Well just goes to show you how fake that show is.
Guy tells boyd to build him that car in 8 weeks so he can give it to his Wife for her birthday. Well looks like she didn't like it to put it up for auction.
I had a feelign it was kind of fishy cause the guy who gave it to his wife is on the Speed Channel all the time on that show that 3 teams go around the country to find cars to make money at the Barrett Jackson and the profit is supposed to go to charity.
I hate this stuff cause its driving the prices of cars through the roof.

Have any of you met him? (Boyd)
Is he that big of an :moon: in person?
I wonder if he has watched himself on the show.
I was sooo happy for Charley...To see him working with Foose.
I think those two will turn out killer machines.

I guess this guy does not hold onto anything too long. He has sold several boyd cars over the years.

I missed the show for a while and got sick Boyd. Charley no longer works for Boyd? Good for him.

Wow, $150K for that car? Boyd, please touch my car so I can triple the value. PLEASE!
barret jackson does nothing to raise the cost of muscle cars ,especially, or really any collector cars. its an anomoly. think about it. do you really think anyone would give 150k for that car if they saw the ad in hemmings or auto trader? i bet the person that bought it wouldnt buy it if it werent for ebing at that auction. same with that 300k chevelle. its becuase its at barret jackson in scottsdale. barret jackson has auctions else where that arent as big. the cars also dont go for outrageous prices either.
id personally be sceptical of buying anything built by Boyd. he has gone out of business before. i think it was more than once too. the people that buy cars like he builds arent affected by the economy that much. they have the money to weather the lows.
and yeah makes you wonder if its all a scripted or what with that car going across the auction block when its supposed to be something special like a gift to your wife

Well.....how much did the guy pay for that car? I figured a car like that was probably over six figures anyway. And with the tight time schedule, it might have been more.
No?
very true, but rarely do you spend less to build it than what its worth or what you could resell it for. thats why the money is in owning/buying and reselling cars not building them and selling them.

Say what you will about Boyd, but after this weekend he is certainly back on top of the custom car world. I do not think pro-touring will ever be his thing but anything with his name attached to it will be outrageous for awhile. I like Foose much better but feel that Boyd for whatever reason (maybe his connection to Jackson and others with mega-bucks) is back to stay for a while.

it always amazes me that people still have boyd build their cars when there are so many other options available.

Hummmmm... I just saw that car on the cover of PHR (I think it was PHR) last night at the grocery store. Ugly Ugly Ugly...
BTW, where did you see Charley working with Foose? Good for him! I keep waiting for someone to knock Boyd off of his high horse and drag him around in the dirt for a little while. He speaks so much of respect to/with the guys in the garage on his show, but from what gets aired I don't think Boyd should be respected. He's belittling and self rightious and if someone disagrees with him he takes it as a lack of respect, not as an opinion. Respect isn't a points system to be compiled by what you've done in the past, you have to earn it on a daily basis!!!

The last episope of American Hotrod Charlie asked to leave Boyds shop for a 6 week period to get a car painted for Foose for a competition I think it was "the Riddler" anyways when Charlie tod him it was to do it with Foose he had a fit and was told to pack it up and leave and never to come back.
I wish I knew what bad things happened between Foose and Boyd. You could tell they were editing alot of stuff Boyd was saying about Foose.

I remember reading a while ago about Boyds being raided. Does anyone know what with that?

I agree with Bill. As a business man, I have to appreciate what Boyd has done with this latest version of Boyd's Hot Rods. Hate um as he is hated here, his show is the closest to real shop life then any other show. He has to be commended for having the balls to show the mistakes, headaches, trials and tribulations of getting a team of guys to take a concept from paper to reality. He has the balls to show a car being skim coated with filler end to end, and guys working hard hours, and getting irritable. And show unappreciative pieces of dung like blue bear, even when the boss is throwing him a HUGE perk. I personally have had this happen a few times.
The WhatTheHay car was killer. The Alumitub went cheap for a TV car, but as fantastic as the killer body was, the car lacked zest in my opinion, and it showed on the block. $150k for the Mustang, it has been advertised for $150 for months.
As far as what Barrett Jackson does to value, it positively has an effect, more now with TV then ever. A LS6 convertible selling, in the public eye, for $300K instantly raised the value of every LS6 in captivity. Same for the Hemi cars after a $300k sale, and Z28s. It was only a few years ago we sold a cross ram set up for $3500, and felt we hit it out of the park, today, because of the yellow car from last year, (that was a repo X Ram), originals will bring $15K. And Barrett Jackson is HUGELY responsible for that.
Additionally, shows like Boyd's, much as guys here hate him, and Rides, Overhaulin, are all raising car values as it is putting the entire hobby more in the public eye.
The thing I am most happy to see is what is happening with customs. Customs were out of favor for years, and sold for pennies on the dollar no matter how awesome. Now, after 24 hours of national TV, we got to see killer cars bring killer money. In some cases possibly even eclipsing the original investment. That my friends is a new phenomenon that started last year with the Zephyr. And something all us customizers should be very happy to see.

To that extent, I agree. The American Hot Rod show in general is very fun to watch and does wonders for the sport in the public eye, but Boyd or no Boyd a shop putting out those kinds of cars is worthy of a show.
Enter Overhaulin. Worthy Foose designs... Plus no A-hole. One week to build a car though really has to cut into the prep work on so many of the aspects of the car. I would like to see those cars after a year to see just how much of the car falls off...

I also watched the episode in which Charlie left Boyd... I definitely think he made the correct choice to leave... He would not only finally be with his family but he would also get to work with that genius we all know as Chip Foose... Chip is VERY hands on... much unlike Boyd!!!
I'd also be very afraid to purchase some of Boyd's vehicles after watching some of the workmanship performed...
It would also be cool to know why there is such Bad Blood between Chip and Boyd... Maybe Chip decided to venture out on his own...possibly because he was the brains behind the cars??? not sure, maybe a good guess...
ALSO... Did you know that JESSE JAMES of WEST COAST CHOPPERS.... use to work for Boyd...
I found this out while reading about Boyd's Hotrod show on Discovery's website...Wonder if there is any bad blood there as well...
Take it easy everyone,
TIM
