Never mind, going to paint it to match.

Agreed. That current HUGE hood looks more out of place. As for carbon fiber, I don't think it matches your car or the wheels very well. Those wheels are retro styled, carbon fiber is too modern. Just go with a 2" cowl hood, painted to match the car. Keep it simple and clean looking, stick with a theme.

I think it'd help if he black'd the center portion of the spokes, leaving only the silver edge, silver and the lip of the rim polished, it'd work well with his CF hood.

It'll look wrong without more carbon fiber stuff to tie it in. Like the chin spoiler for example. make that carbon also, the trunk lid and spoiler, and you're on to something.

Or even cooler. tape off the carbon fiber like rally stripes, and let the carbon fiber "be" the stripes on your hood and decklid.

If you do decide to go with a carbon anything, your wheels should be darker IMHO, they'll clash.

(And the front of your car needs to come down an inch, do that, and the hood it has now will work.)

Here's what it might look like. (sorry for the crudity, Im on my way to the gym and am being shoved out the door.) Little lower in the front, and a "carbon" looking hood.

I agree with Tony with the strips open!! Z28 strips in carbon would look sweet, but need to get the cowl vent and the header panel to finish it off.

This pic was taken right after we did all the suspension. The front actually sits about an 1" lower than this pic shows. If i did do the hood I would also do the cowl, header panel. and spoiler.

only problem with that is the theme of the wheels is a retro look.. and the CF stuff makes it modern.. like my man said above.

not saying you have to change the wheels but if you look at it its noticeable in my opinion..

now you might not like this but i think if you did all that and then did a grey in the wheel centers ,like inside those inner triangles that would answer it i think..

See what a difference darker wheels make with a hood that color?

Justin,

I would just let us paint your hood to match your car, and let sleeping dogs lay. Did Jason give you our painters number today? He'll take good care of it for you.

Oh, and I have two sets of billet hood hinges in stock from Marty at hoodpins.net. I'll sell you a set at a heck of a deal if you want. Let me know.

I think it's a little late in the game for bare CF. Now that manufacturers are doing it, it won't seem very custom, so that means it will be dead in a couple of years.

If you have the money to "fix" what you are going to do in the near future, then go for it.

Jon, I did get a hold of that painter and I am going to use him. The main reason I was even thinking about running it bare was because of having some bad experiences with trying to match paint. I dig the RS stripes and thinking about having him match the hood then lay down some stripes. Now I have to figure out how to cram a Big Block with a high rise intake maniflod and a 1050 carb under a 2" cowl!!

Sounds like time to consider a new manifold? A lowerprofile dual plane might give you better all around numbers anyway.

JustinB

easier said than done. I have looked into it but I cant find a dual plane low profile manifold that can support a BBC that revs to 7200 and a 1050 carb.

I think color matched would look better

Yeah, if I do get a hood I am going to paint it to match the car. Might keep the "camel hump" because I think I like it and its different. These cars all start to look the same after awhile.
