Dakota Digital has a gauge set for a 67 Camaro for about $600. Just wanted to know the pros and cons of such a set up. They recommend the green lighting for convertibles. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

I would put in some real guages auto meter came out with new ones that look amazing. you can set them to a couple diffrent colors they look really really great. The digital guages look way to cheezy to me reminds me of my 90 cavalier z/24 i had a couple of years ago. man they were ugly :barf:

I saw a bunch of the Dakota Digital gauges in person at SEMA and talked to some of the guys that were running the booth. Way cool guys, and the gauges looked pretty trick.

See Paul, my personal taste is opposite of yours. I don't care for the Autometer look. I think the hidden look(when the digi gauges are off) in the dash is better. In my case it's either stock(which for all new gauges is near $1000)or the digi gauges, all for $600. Tough decision.

Price wise you are right. And if that is the set up you like than great. Sounds like an easy decision then. I would like to see some pics if you decide to go with that set up. maybe they look better than i think they will.

I happen to catch the Nova that Dream Car Garage restored and they put digi gauges in it. Didn't look too bad.

personally i dont care for the look of digital gauges so i went with the covans classic set up with autometer's, but seeing how this isnt my car, do what you will think looks good. my only concern especially with a drop top is possible blind spots when the sun hits them, or is too bright. i have that problem with the cd player in my 87 IROC due to the T-tops i cant read the display. just some food for thought

I checked out Covans site. They looked better than I thought, but they still too bold for me. The price is right however. Paul, if you have a pic of the entire dash with this gauge set, would you mind posting a pic. Thanks.

...what was the decision...did you go with Dakota Digital? I'm thinking about doing the same. Just curious what the in dash turn signal, high beam lights look like.

I went with the Dakota Digital. Since my car is more for looks rather than race, this look fits it better IMO. I still don't have the turn signals and the high beams functional yet. (Has it really been 2.5 years since I posted this?!?! I need to finish my car.)

I have Dakota Digital gauges, and it is hard to read the numbers during the day. They came with the car when I bought it.

quite frankly, i don't like digital gauges because it is hard to keep your eyes on the RPM especially when you are racing. Also, I am tired of the fuel gauge that keeps fluctuating all the time even though I have recently put a new fuel sending unit.

If I were you, I would get the Auto Meter Gauges from Covans Classics, which look much nicer than Digital Gauges.
