I am trying to figure out the best way to mount my 4 point harnesses. I have the lap belts in the stock location. And right now the shoulder harness is mounted where the rear seat belt buckle was. I know this is not ideal, and not all that safe.
Anyone have any ideas? I would like to stay away from a cage as well.

I looked at the same thing for my Monte, but did not do it for the safety thing. I did look at putting a harness bar across the pillor post behind the front seat. But it still comes down to safety. If you want the 4 point, you need the cage as well. I love to put one in mine, but I don't want to cut the car and org. interior.

I used some Schroth Harnesses until I get my cage installed. They make some that mount to factory mounts and although aren't as good as a roll cage mount are certainly safer than 30-40 year old lap belts.

I really hate to put a cage in. but i kinda think a 4- point is the best way to go. Any other suggestions.

I spoke to HMS motorsports who are the importers for Schroth and they stated that the stock seats have no load testing and are not recommed for the Rallye 3 or 4. You might want to speak to them and change seats that are approved.
I'm not ready to change out the bench seat just yet, but would If I could find the right buckets, mounts and then install the shoulder harness. Just be aware that you have no roll over protection and the shoulder harness will keep you upright. Slow speeds and slow roll should not be a problem, but track speeds will be something else.

Buds there is no solution other than a cage or harness bar. Alot of it has to do with the installation in relationship to the required angles for safety & function of the harness.
Personally I use a camlock 6pt harness in my Buick. It functions like a 4pt for DD/street duties, and as a 6pt for race days. 4 of my 6 points are tied into the factory locations. The other 2 are on my roll cage.

Mike, a 6 point has 2 sub belts? And where did you mount them?

Did some more research and would rather promote safety on the cage and harness issue. The G-Body does not have very good roll over protection.
