hey, Today I pulled the carpet on the chevelle and sadly the guy that had it before decided to totally destroy the tunnel installing a manual in it. He riveted aluminum over the gapping hole and sprayed undercoating over it disguising it from the bottom. So regardless of what he did I need to repair it. I looked at OPGI and Year One and I didnt see a trans tunnel repair piece, only half pans that I would end up needing to buy two cause they are split down the middle. I considered that bone yard in Arizona that was mentioned on V8tv (cant remember the name at the moment) and just get a tunnel cut for me but I think that would be a second choice considering that I need to prep it to get it cleaned up which obviously takes time and time is my enemy cause I lack it. If you can shoot me in the direction of a repair panel that fixes the tunnel over the top of the shifter area please send me in that direction, otherwise Ill get a cut one and use that. Thanks

no sadly, the car was originally a column shift auto car. Previous owner cut roughly half of the trans tunnel out for the shifter when he converted it to a 4 speed(he took out WAY more than necessary). What I need is the tunnel for a column shift car cause I plan on running a 4l65e with a cable shifter. Unfortunately I didnt take a pic today or else Id post it and I probably will tomorrow but what I need i a panel that would cover from the part where the tunnel turns into the drive shaft tunnel and up to the seam where the firewall portion of the tunnel mates to the itermediate portion of the trans tunnel. Hope that makes sense but if you were to look at it, the tunnel is made of three pieces.. one is very wide at the front, then a seam and the middle portion of the tunnel and lastly the driveshaft prtion and I need the middle.
ok found a pic of a floor pan and I outlined the area i need but without a shifter hole

That was going to be my next suggestion.

Unless you are doing a resto, seems like alot of work to replace all the way to the f/wall. Why not just do a "proper" patch and put the carpet back in? I'm sure finding a donor section used won't be too hard. Even one with a shifter hole wouldn't be too tough to close up.

The hole I have to fix is huge and I dont have a sheetmetal roller to do the tunnel so sounds like Ill be getting a donor panel

If you have a leg, you have a sheet metal bender.
Or, a heavy gauge piece of stove pipe. They're usually not crimped together in the store, and they're already curved.

It might not hurt to get somebody to get some measurments for you from the same year car, then you would be sure you have it in right.
I got some measurements for a 69 chevelle, anyway, they could look at how I measured mine, and that might give them some ideas on how to get you some measurements.

I just bought the Chris Alston's kit and only used half for my 65 Chevelle. I replaced all the floor and had to cut the trans tunnel to fit the T56.... Are you interested in the other half, I have no use for it. I will attach a pic if I can. Won't let me attach a pic, too big or something.... I can email a pic if you want, I have the other half untouched!

yeah Im not looking to keep a manual trans in this, the 4 speen thats in it is going to my buddy along with the 327 in trade for the motor and trans Im gonna run. He has a 32 ford and the other 3 he owns all have that engine trans combo so since I had that and he owns a few recycling yards...we made a deal (nice to have connections). I had a tunnel cut and its on its way so I should be preforming that surgery in a few weeks. Right now Im getting the body down to bare metal so I can start prepping for body mods and once the motor is out this will get handled. Thanks for the help though guys

I am actually going to use the driveshaft tunnel as well. The kit comes with two halves for the trans tunnel, the driveshaft tunnel and two huge pieces of sheet metal to attact the driveshaft tunnel to the floor. The kit was way worth the $150.00. email me at
[email protected] and I will get you some pics.
