My vote is for Dale Jr.

At this point in the game....what does it really matter? NASCAR has ruined the whole sport and made all the cars the same. They all look the same, they all run the same. They don't even use production engines anymore. I am really disenchanted with the whole series. Car Of Tommorow was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

And now that Gibbs has thumbed his nose at GM and crawled in bed with the enemy, my heart is really filled with hate these days.

Won't be watching....ever again.

It upset me a lot that gibbs made that move too. On a different note what motor does toyota use?

I am not sure of the toyota engine, but here is an old spy shot closeup of the crankshaft. I dont know how they squeeze the power out of 'em.

Pretty simple question, lots of complicated responsed. :usa:

I am gonna put my money on Smoke also, although I am not a big fan (but that wasn't the question). Second guess would be JR.

I also throw out some dark horses:

Casey Mears
Michael Waltrip

Phil

Well it wasn't Jr, but at least it wasn't a Toyota.

Sorry. I didn't mean to throw in that negativity. I just used to love NASCAR a lot back in the day and was a huge Dale Sr. fan. I just don't recongnize it anymore. It's changed too much.

OK. Me and the soap box are leaving.

Toyota is supposed to have been based on a Dodge.

Really, with all the rules the engines have to meet, and how close in power they need to be, how different could they be? A non issue IMO.

I was there today. It was fun. I wanted Johnson to win but that didnt happen... My favorite part was seeing all the older cars do the parade laps before the race. God the things I would do for a 60's era Richard Petty racecar.

I heard a rumor that they bought the plans from GM for the SB2 engine. But again that is rumor.

Quick search on the net, I found this pic, tagged as a Toyota block. Doesn't look like GM SB2, looks more like the current GM motor.

Andy years ago one of the 73 charger petty cars was rotting away in the field behind a local distributer for stp.It was in the showroom and then ended up behind the place when they closed up.It sat for a few years and then was gone,I was just a kid at the time.

Thats sucks. They should have saved it for me. I mean I do have the last name so I kinda deserve it.....

I'd be ok with any of his old stock cars.

Two that stand out

I love those old stock cars. That's what real racing should be. Manufacturer against Manufacturer. If I wanna route for a human I'll watch Tennis or Golf.

No thanks.

The toyotas were said to have a power advantage over the Chevys. 30 HP over RCR. Big difference in 500 miles. If Toyota dominates Nascar will suffer.

That's weird, aren't all the cars supposed to have the same amount of horsepower, torque, etc?

Toyota is going to eventually win. Why? Because "money talks" that's why. They know they can't make it on their own steam so they're going to buy their way to victory. The first item on the grocery list was Joe Gibbs Racing.

And they won't stop there.

If Toyota had to build their own car and engine they'd just as soon go home. This is why you don't hear a peep from them at Sebring or Lemans.

Personally I think they are already suffering. The cars are all the same, a goofy rice burner wing on the back, none of the motors are production motors & Toyota is now in it. I am only half-a$$ed watching some of it this year because I am curious to see if Jr can win with Hendricks. I gave up my 15 year annual ritual of going to Michigan in August with about 15 of my friends because it just isn't the same as it used to be.
