I'm really sorry to all elcamino fans but I just could'nt keep these to myself. The paint and body is worse than what was done to it. Should've painted it blue with white caps.:candle:

OK. So tastes vary and I try to be openminded. How is the DONK trend different than the old trend of putting car bodies on 4x4 chassis? The guys doing the donks are missing the boat completely. They need to start with truck chassis and adapt their favorite body to it. Sure would be safer than some cobbled together "lift" on a car frame.

At least it's done tastefully and they didn't put gaudy wheels on it. :wedgie:

I am also trying to be really open minded. Really. I am trying really really really hard. After all it is, errr was, a car and we are all car guys.
But, at least in the "old days" of the car on a 4x4 chassis most of those guys were beatin' the snot out of them in the mud or something. What the heck do you do with a Donk ride besides make a hip hop video? :machine:

Nah....This is a fad, like every other fad that has come and gone. Let's name a few. Remember:
Mini Trucks-It was HUGE. Then it filzed out and found a happy spot. definitely still around and has a following.
Sport Compacts-This was a biggie. I remember SEMA 2002. You couldn't swing a dead cat without seeing, hearing, everything was buzzing with Sport Compacts. All the American manufacturer's were scrambling to jump on the bandwagon, which at that point had already hit its peak and was about to make a descent like the first drop on a roller coaster. Definitely still around, but it too has found a happy spot, with dedicated enthusiasts and hardcore racers.
Pro-Touring-Yup. Someone had to say it. We too are a fad. I mean really. Think about it.
Pro-Street-Same deal. Still around, but not like it was in the late 80s
Low riders....
Lead Sleds....
Rat Rods....
The DONK deal is the same thing. It looks like the phenomenon is huge, but in reality I bet its very small. It too will find its nitch in the market and will ultimately contribute (somehow...trying to be possitive here..LOL) to the overall car culture.

Well if it can hurry up and contribute what it's going to contribute and then be merrily on it's way, I'd be real appreciative.

Mikey, I took my dad to that show on Sat. and when we passed that El Camino he said, "that is the stupidest thing I've ever seen" and I'd have to agree.
On the other hand there were a few very nice 2nd gens there.:twothumbs

Yeh I took my Dad there sat also I spent some time talking to the guy that did the paint and metal work on the model A behind it. He said the owner was pissed off thought the light should've been brighter to make it look better:rotfl: He said yeah the lights are pretty brutal they make every defect look worse:lmao: Did you see Mizfits 69 there next row and a few cars down it looked pretty nice along with the red 69 builder said it's the owners dd.

I think it is a recycled redneck project, if you look closely it was converted to 4 wheel drive...just badly.
