Do I have to use a chevelle horse shoe shifter???? need clearification

[deeboe78]

I am changing my column to a floor shifter. I already purchased the stock console new. I see a couple of HS shifters on ebay do I need to have a chevelle HS shifter or can I use a camaro 69 one. They both look same. The exact same. What it boils down to is one is cheaper than the other.

thanks for any comments

The shifter's are the same, it is the base plate that mount's to the floor that is different.
