Where is the best place to bolt a rotisserie to on the back of a 3rd gen Nova. I was going to bolt it using the rear bumper holes with a metal plate and washers on the body side using grade 8 bolts. This seems to be the easiest place as it's flat and easy to get to. I've read that some people use the leaf spring perches. Reason I'm asking is I'm builing a rotisserie and will be making the brackets soon. Thanks.

Heres a few pictures of a 69 chevelle body, might give you some ideas. Nevermind the turnbuckles on the roto., I had a brain flash that it needed strengthened, turned out it didn't.

You can never be too safe though.....as I'm building mine, I'm addding gussets all over just to be safe. I'd hate to drop a 40 year old car. Thanks for the replies guys. I think I have a plan now.

If you sand blast the body, that is the test on how strong your rotisserie is. When I blasted mine, and went to roll it over, it must have had a couple hundred lbs of sand in it. I couldn't move it, so I stood up on the front brackets and used all my weight to kind of bounce up and down, finally it rolled over, so that told me the rotisserie was plenty strong enough. I weigh a little over 180.

Just a little note here, I didn't sand blast the sides or top of the car.

I guess I could mention this also, keep the body as low as you can on the roto. Mine comes close to hitting the overhead garage door opener. If you have your bottom braces spread apart instead of a single brace going down the middle you can keep it pretty low.

Anyway, good luck, and post some pictures so we can see your handiwork.
