just wondering if any one could give me an idea as to how much my suspension will settle once everything is in place. i have the hotckis 2" drop coils in the front, and was hoping that it would be enough. there is currently no motor, trans, brake booster/mc, radiator, grill, or anything else other than the front suspension and radiator core support. the motor going in will be a aluminum headed BBC with the march serpentine setup with ac. i will be using a 7" booster/mc combo. i will also be putting a complete RS setup with electric doors in. just wondering if this will get me down enough, or do you think i'll need to cut springs. i know i won't know until everything is in place, but i figured there's enough people on here that build these cars for a living and could maybe give me some sort of idea as to what i can expect. any and all comments appreciated. :hmm:

Don't expect them to sit perfect with no motor in it. What drop do you have in the rear?

Mike,

i wasn't expecting it to sit perfect with no motor, hence the question...just trying to get an idea as to how much "settling" i can expect. i have DSE 3" leafs in the rear.

BTW, the tails you sold me look even better on the car than in the box:naughty:

Little premature to worry about settling isn't it? You don't have half the weight in that car yet. Mine is in the same stage and it sets a little lower front and back.

I would for sure wait till you have the engine in. once thing I noticed about the Hotchkiss springs I put in my Cutlass is that they dont hold up a load like the stock springs did. I dont ever ride with more then one person in the back seat anymore.

easy way to tell, get 3 or 4 200lb friends to sit on it or open the hood and stand on cross member.

I'd say yes, It'll settle You've got a lot of weight to add to the car still, both front and rear. Dont forget the weight of a full tank of gas too.

Coolant, oil, PS fluid, etc as well as the above mentioned will all settle it. Looks about right for a BBC set without motor.

thanks, thats kinda what i was hoping. i just didn't want to be way off. this is my first real ground up build, and i've never really dealt with too much on the suspension side of things. thanks for the responses.
