Our buddy Nick Scavo will be driving street-legal drag verteran Spiro Pappas' new Camaro in NMCA / ORSCA races this year... the Hemi-headed big block and twin 88's make this Camaro look like a Muscle Machine die cast!

They don't know about power yet, but they're guessing an easy 2500 with 15 lbs of boost. It's first race is in March, but consider Spiro is also running his original car - a single turbo car - that ran 6.97 @ 200+ last year. This thing is going to be outrageous.

That thing is nasty, I want to ride in it.

What can I say, WOW! That thing's friggin awesome. I really liked the wheels up pic. With a single turbo!
With the front of the car removed, those things look so huge and so far forward, combined with the size of that Hemi. Looks like it would do great stoppies! LOL.
Seriously, that seems like a lot of weight on the nose for a drag (any?) car.

I think with this much power they don't worry so much about the nose weight that much. The body panels are all super-light, and they have to add weight to the car to make it legal. And weight in the front helps keep the front wheels on the ground. It's going to be sick, especially seeing this one (NICK named the "evil twin") and the single turbo car at the track together.

I wonder if that thing will have the same problem airline jet engines have when it comes to sucking in small birds and animals.

That thing is amazing, I've seen em mount a single 106mm on the front but not two 88s like that before. It's gonna be killer!

I remember Spiro form the very early days of 10.5" racing. He has always had very nice, very fast cars.

What cube motor? Those heads are normally on a 700+ plus cube motor
oestek
02-12-2008, 02:32 PM
They're on a 565 big block Chevy. I have not read the class rules... I bet there's a turbo size / cube limit. Those guys seem to do well with smaller cube turbo motors making insane power.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!
....but according to the "other thread" ANYONE can do that just by changing the cam and throwing $$$ at it ! ROFLFAO.....
i bet its not as front heavy as it looks. To me it seems like the entire long block is well behind the front wheels.

So he is running his original car too? What class will the new one be in? What ever happened to Nick's 69?
I remember seeing Spiro's car back prolly 15 years ago, that thing was freaking awesome then! It had some of the prettiest wheelstands that I had seen. And Nick's Imp runnin' with the lighter cars always impressed me too.
Can't wait to see some numbers from them!

I called Nick tonight and posed some of the questions posted here, and then posted the interview / call on our site. You can hear a little of the history of Spiro and his cars, Nick and his doings, and the latest on the new car in the interview in this link... it's a pretty funny piece.

I was wondering what do these guys do that have these monsters built? I know the cars are not cheap. I watched these guys race in 95 in outlaw super stock so ive wondered for quite some time.

Nick just sent me this email...
"Well, after 80 hours of work, we finally got it on the dyno and running.....only pulled it a little (between 4000-7500) just to warm it up to we could lash the valves and check everything
The Fast Times built, Sonny headed, 548 cubic inches, with twin 88's with ONLY 2 pounds of boost( waste gates wide open), it made 1009 horsepower at 7500 and it still hadn't gotten to peak torque, so it looks like the motor will go to 9000-9500 or so and with some boost it should make a little more...lol
the goal is a reliable 2800 horsepower at only 25lbs of boost.
I'm gonna have my hands full this year....LOL
Nick"

Whats the max power u think they could get outta this? I saw they ran 7.0 on their second pass, this gonna be good for 6.50s or so?

Impressive, its good the hear that they were street racers way back when. I'm more swayed to Centrifugals than Turbos when power levels are sub 2000 hp.
Anybody know of air/water intercoolers that can sit part in the fire wall and partly in the passenger footwell or behind the dash that can allow a passenger to be comfortable and be efficient.
Also does any one make a conventional front mounted street radiator with a hole/s in the middle for a front mount F3/F2 Procharger or Twin 88's?????
