Does anybody know if there is a way to do this on a '69 camaro. We shaved the firwall and dont want to go back with a stock wiper motor. I know that some hotrods use a small, hidden wiper motor, but I have no clue what it is, where to find it, or if it would even work on a '69 camaro. I searched through the threads, and all I could find was the DSE wiper motor which I don't think can be "hidden". Any help would be appreciated!

Frank, don't tease me! Is it a new part or did you just remove it completely? If it is a new part will it be available say in about a year? I found a thread that talked about using a VW motor, but the link was out dated and wouldn't let me get into it. PM me if you need to keep it a secret :secret:. Like I said, I won't need it for a couple more months, but I'm just trying to figure out what's out there.

Thanks!

P.S. Is that your wifes 69 T/A before it was completed? If so, the sub and susp looks sweet!

Ok Frank, so I found the thread before sema and in there you said that the wiper motor is under the fender. I'm guessing you won't elaborate.... From the words of mr. deeds' bulter, "You are very very sneaky sir!"

Here's a link to an old post with some pics by Frank. (Sorry Frank, I couldn't help myself :dunno: )
It just looks so good I had to share. http://69.94.75.177/forum/showthread.php?t=4376
You can see the area he mounts the motor and there is a brief explanation about the linkage rod as well.
Have fun!

Dude you can't bother Frank after 9pm, american idol is on bro. LOL

Thank you for using the search tab. You rule.

You know if you get creative with the linkage you can mount it under the cowl panel.

And yes, never under estimate his sneekyness. ROFL!!!!

I figured that was what he was doing! I watch it just so I can see Paula Abdul... she's smokin hot! I was hoping to get a variable speed wiper motor and mount it under the cowl, but I guess I wll just look at all of my options and make the best decision.

1. VW motor under the cowl
2. DSE motor behind the fender
3. some other motor under the cowl
4. or some other motor behind the fender

This may take a while to figure out.... :dunno:

I relocated mine in the glovebox area with the universal kit from DSE in about 3.5 hrs with no front clip on the car. You would only need to remove the cowl to do it and make a different glove box liner that isn't as big.

If you need photos and a how to do it, let me know. I even have a drawing of the template you will need to mount it.

I had considered the spot that is shown in the thread but if I ever got caught in snow I was a worried the length of the arm might not have the strength it would need if I ever sold the car and someone got lazy and tried to move it with the wipers.

Both ways are good and there are drawbacks to both places but under the dash inside in the glove box is more accessible if something ever goes wrong.

Has anyone tried using a wiper arm assembly from a new GTO?
Its a nice contained assembly. It looks like it will fit under inside of a 69's cowl. im going to give it a shot later.

Do you happen to know if the GTO has a park feature on it's wipers? If so, it's not optimal for use in a first gen, but there's no reason why it wouldn't work.

The park feature typically drops the wipers into the cowl once they're turned off, the first gen has exposed wipers that sit on the edge of the windshield.

On the 69, we ended up putting the stocker 2 spd behind the fender.... It barely fits, but we haven't tried it out yet (no windshield).

Good question! I dont think so but maybe someone will chime in?

I'm using a wiper motor out of a 05 buick that has the park feature. All I had to do was install a 24K ohm resistor inline to eliminate the park feature. Mounted mine in the glove box area inside. Not sure if the GTO has the park feature.
