I am trying to find someone that has installed a third brake light in a 1st gen spoiler. I have seen this done before and I am wanting to know what was used (aftermarket LED or from donor vehicle). If you have pics of it installed, that would be great. I want to flush mount the light. Thanks guys

I used a C5 Corvette third brakelight on mine.

Did you mount it with the weatherpack connector up, or down? Also, did you get a harness from the wrecking yard, or just find the right weatherpack?

I mounted it with the connection down. I had to dimple the deck lid so that it would clear. I bought the light and the pigtail from GM. It doesn't look like a normal weatherpack connector. If you were getting the light out of a wrecked one, you could just cut the harness with it.
I thought I had a better picture of the dimple, but here's one of the car before the clear went on.

Ouch - really wasn't wanting to "modify" the lid. Do you remember what the kit cost? Any others out there that has used something different? Talked to a friend of mine that used one off of a Ford Explorer but I don't have any details.

I'll see if I can dig up the receipt.

I bought the light from my local dealer, but they didn't have a part number for the pigtail, only the whole harness, which was pretty spendy. I figured I'd look in a wrecking yard for the wiring, but if you have a part number for the pigtail, that would help me out a lot. I was wondering about the mounting, because the lense seems to have an angle to it, relative to the LEDs inside.

I called the local Chevy dealer today and the light and harness together was right around $120. Yeah, it's a little pricey

I wish my parts guy sold stuff to me for list price. Thanks though, I think that will help a bunch.

I also installed a 3rd brake light on my '69. I bought it from Watson's Streetworks (http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/).
I bought the Small Hot Slot 3rd Brake Light (Part #L58SMB). It was $75 and is 7.5" x .5". What I liked about this one is that you sand the lens down so that it is smooth with the body and you clear coat over it.
Here are a couple of pics.....

Was pretty easy to mount the lens, but the LED Box was a bit trickier. I haven't sanded down the lens yet. I'm going to leave that to my paint and body guy.
