Looking for some TT headers, been looking at the ebay brands and heard bad things about them, but none from people who actually used them and tested them. Any input?

Thanks

SW makes a set for a sbc. I would stay away from the Ebay headers.

For $1500 you'd think they would throw up a picture of their product thats finished not something just tacked up.

I made my last set... they came out OK...It was more of a turbo log style for a TT mustang that I built the kit for....For my TT Impala I bought a set of the stainless e-bay headers after seeing a set that one of my employee's purchased...The quality is great for the price...I only paid $150 but now I see they are upwards to $400!!!!..The flange is really thick, 3/8 if i recall correctly....I am going to cut them up and re-weld them for my project... I cannot buy the stainless u or j bends for what I paid for them......Just my .02.....Jim

i dont feel like paying 1500 for some headers. Im gonna buy some some flanges off ebay and tack some up then have a company finish weld them.

believe it or not....there's quite a few people on Theturboforums.com using those cheapo Ebay SS headers that look like SSautochrome. people are cutting the ends off them (t3 flanges) and welding up their own kit from there forward.

They can be had for under $200 on Evilbay, and use good thick flanges as well

Ask the same people for documented evidence of them splitting or cracking. I spent weeks trying to find some info after hearing all the horror stories but kept coming back to the same pic of just one header flange that had cracked. Same for the twin turbo kits off ebay. No they can't handle 20+ psi but for a first time mild build they seem like good entry level parts and the price of $800.oo reflects this. Again there is only one pic on the net showing a cracked casing but everyone tells you they will blow up because they have read it somewhere.

I have seen two installs of those complete kits and for the money hey are hard to beat. No they are not Gale Banks quality and yes they are chinese which is maybe the real reason for the disention but they are worth looking at if funds are tight.

I'm doing a twin turbo 355ci small block with a hyper' piston kit from Summit. A used block and patriot heads. Total cost of complete twin turbo engine carb to pan up 'n' running $2,800.oo. I know what it is, I know it's limits (6-8lbs probably) but this is an excercise in seeing what I can get for under 3k. I'll let ya know how it goes.

Same boat as you. Post pics please or make a Project section for this.

Rob, this is for a 55 Chevy project next year. I am currently finishing off 2 '57 Chevys before I start on that.

You can try using those Ebay headers but dont forget your going to spend money fabbing the rest of your exhaust around a set of headers that probably wont last that long. If you can I would try to base your system around a good set of headers that will give you the option to upgrade to a bigger size turbo in the future. Cutting the flanges off of a set of alread thin headers is just going to make them even weaker. They dont need to be stainless headers but try to find a set with thick flanges/pipes and good welds.

the ebay headers are pretty thick from what i hear .499 wall thickness thats pretty solid...right?

I bought a tt kit on ebay cause it was cheaper to get all of the little things. The headers were very nice , just wouldnt work for me at all. So I bought some mandrel U's , cut apart the header and fabbed up some that actually fit. Really nice thick flange, wall thickness was unreal for a set of headers.
here is the end product for the drivers side (s-10)
