I am going to change the body mount bushings/bolts (energy suspension kit) on my 72 Nova, I happen to be talking about this to a couple body shop guys.

They told me to not be alarmed if after changing the bushings and bolts the body panel alignment's are off? example: door panel alignment.

Has anybody experienced this when they changed these kits, if so were you able to get them back into alignment without major work?

I am thinking I will not have a big issue here but I wanted to be prepared if it did happen.

Feedback Please!
Thank you,

Didn't notice it on mine, but the reason this can happen is if the panels had already been realigned without replacing the bushings.

In other words if the car was sitting on it's 35 year old bushings, and the guy does a repaint with the fenders off, reinstalls and aligns them, and then you come along and replace the bushings, the gaps are now incorrect.

the only miss alignment that could show up is the fender to door but because of the core support bushing but the door is attached to the body there is no way that they would be affected by frame bushings.

So when I put new ones in, the worst that can happen is it may need to be realigned, is that correct?

When I replaced the bushings on my 73 I had to realign the drivers side door/fender gap. The original bushing were shot, especially that side.

Yeah, doors should be unaffected but with severely worn bushings the fenders probably will need to realigned.
