Actually the thread title should say $450,000 replica Camaro but you are in luck the seller is only asking $250,000

I've seen this car in person and it's pretty nice, but I don't know about $250,000 nice. If you aren't familiar with the HOTROD 1 story behind it, check it out. The guys that built it at CARS, Inc. in NC are great to talk to. I wish them luck in selling it. It's a definite one-off though. Since it's based on the new crate body, fitting all the DSE stuff should have been a snap.

130K comes to mind, but I could be wrong. I remember thinking it was TOO MUCH when it sold.

NOTICE-Titled as a 2004 custom, not a 69 camaro

Then look at results page for lot 1344

That car sold cheap for what i thought, but I saw one of the 1st of those bodies they built and it sucked as far as fit, finish and quality.

Saw it in person before, I'd say they overpaid by a good $60K for it if they bought it for $130K

I have seen it a couple times and the last time they had fixed a bunch of stuff. Not my cup of tea though.

No VIN according to the ad. That would be fun to register. How does an appraiser come up with $450k for a replica? Could it have cost that much to build?

But then, there is the $575k Camaro.

Thats nice and all but they can GTFOH with that price tag, the Cessna wing and bloated ram air hood. At least they didn't screw up the side marker lights like they did on the Dynacornmaro I posted.

To me it would've made sense for Richard Childress to use an 80's model Monte Carlo SS to do this with. It would have made more of an impact visually as this was the car Earnhardt had most of his success in.

Did you notice how out of place the flush mount glass is with the windshield frame..I wonder what that windshield come out of...Surely if they made the glass custom it would follow the original body better...

The flush mount glass I am having made fits to original body lines, with the original contours and shape..I am disappointed that someone that wanted over 500,000 dollars couldnt do a better job...

Aside from the design, that black car was nicely done. The reason for the big sales price was that it's engine was the engine that was in Dale Earnharts car when he won his only Daytona 500.

Plus the fact it was built at RCR with real race shop parts
Plus the fact it was hyping the legend Dale Earnhardt, supposedly how "HE" would have built it. Fact is Dale Sr. drove a pickup everyday, I don't recall 69 Camaros being on his list of cars or ever seeing one in his pictures.

I felt the car was not the same quality compared say the the second gen DSE just did for Jr. but it has it's followers for sure. They even sold the car with an extra engine so you could save the Race Motor. I wonder what the value of the engine alone is????

It wasn't built at RCR it was built at a shop in Wichita Ks. I will look up the link and post it. I know the guy that built the cf parts for it. http://tpitotalperformance.com/

The engine in the car was from the 2000 Daytona 500, not the '98 500. I'm sure that car/motor is not going up for sale anywhere, anytime.

I still can't believe that HOTROD camaro sold for $130,000.
I would of bought this camaro convertible at barrett jackson and had enough money left over to buy an enclosed trailer and build a garage for it.

havent seen either of the cars before, my cousin is chocolate myers "dale sr's gas man" i would have think i would have heard about that from my dad. rcr is about 35m from me, and the other camaro was listed on the dupont registry as being in belews creek nc which is about 10 minutes from me. then i looked and holy crap....thats cars inc. no clue they were that close, i guess when you do your own work you dont worry about who has a shop and where it is lmao.
