I have done a few searches for a good hood lock for my 69 Camaro. I am planning on layering the security in my car, but I want to make it more difficult to get under the hood so I am looking for hood lock solutions.

So far I have found the Wolo Hood Lock (Model #207 with a 7' cable for full sized cars used to be sold by JCWhitney):
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2001344/c-10108/Nty-1/p-2001344/Ntx-mode+matchallpartial/N-10108/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=hood+lock

Seemed like a simple but effective item to lock down your hood. But I emailed the manufacturer (Wolo) and they stated they discontinued it :(

Now there is the Aerocatch:

Which looks interesting but requires cutting up ones hood to install. Which kind of rules out the locking hood pins that are made as well.

I'm looking for something similar to the Wolo hood lock:

which would be installed thusly (see attachment), for a nice clean unseen installation. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Instead of using a cable why not go with a remote catch looks like it would fit with not much work, using the same mounting point.

Hey,

I am looking for information on what others have done to secure their hoods.

Paul67 I read your post, if your still on this forum could you elaborate further?

I ask, because someone opened the hood on my buddies 68 Camaro and cut every hose, plug wire etc. I dont thing he wanted to go the hood pin route, so if there are other options I would really appreaciate hearing from someone. I know that there are a lot of resourceful people on this site, so looking forward to hearing what people are useing for a hood lock, and what works best?

Thanks for your help!

We are working on a cable activated hood release for first gens.

This will be a bolt in. you will replace your existing hood latch assembly with the new one and the hood will be opened from inside the vehicle.

We hope to have these available real soon.

Thanks Brian. I look forward to hearing more about this. I believe there will be a strong demand for a bolt in cable hood release to secure the hood.

Hey Brian,

Will your cable system have a locking mechanism inside? (Requiring a key to open the hood even if you have access to the interior?)

Thanks for your response!

I came across this one last night while looking in a parts catalog.

Personally, I like the idea of a key style one but if you have emergency issues under the hood you better be quick!!
