i just got my ls1 running. its a carb setup, i have a sumpped stock tank and an external edelbrock street 120gph fuel pump. right now just to fire the car i have the pump hooked up to a keyed 12v source. the car isnt drivable yet so i will wire the relays in later.
my main question is, do most of you electric fuel pump guys have toggle or on/off switches for your pumps? i have to key my ignition box to load tunes and things and dont want my fuel pump running every time i key the car.

also, im running 2001 F-body cooling fans mounted to my stock radiator. would it be wise to have one fan hooked up to a thermostat switch (200* on 190* off) and hook the other up to a toggle switch. that way i can cool the car without it running?
im looking to add a switch panel like this to my dash

i want to use one switch for my starter, fuel pump, and secondary fan. sound like a plan?

In my car, I had the fuel pump wired into the ignition, and also wired in a pressure safety switch to the oil pressure line. The pump would run in the crank position and also the run position. The pressure safety switch was there incase the engine stalled, it would cut off the fuel pump. I had no switches for the fuel pump, just turn the key and go, it would never run with the car off in any position.
As far as the radiator. Mine was just hooked up to the temp probe in the intake, and both fans would kick on when they reached the temp. I did run a toggle switch to the glove compartment, that I could flick to manually start the fans, it just went to a ground, which is how they are activated. I found that convienent when I would just idle the car for extended periods, just moved the heat out faster.
In my opinion, I would just wire it up this way if it is a street car. Less things to go wrong, or forget about, such as leaving the pump on, or your fans. In my car, everything was pretty seamless.

For your fuel pump, you could run a toggle switch inline (wired in series) with the ignition. That way it could be left on and still work when the ignition is hot while allowing you to manually shut it off when tuning with the engine off.

As for the fans, I usually run it just like protouring 72 says.

your idea is how I have mine set up, my ign is on one switch, pump another and my secondary fan on the third switch. I have indicator lights on the dash to let me know the switches are on, so I don't leave em on by accident. Also a piece of mind in case someone tries to take the car and hopefully can't figure our the switches, because the key won't start it alone
