Well I just got back from picking up the last of our Bonneville motor stuff. Good fun trip, but always some neat stuff to look at.

I learned that the car that lead the Power Tour in 97 or was one of the main cars (something like that) will be getting a new life with some really impressive motor plans.

The drag car in the pictures is the Summit drag car.

The motor in the car was the motor on display at the GM booth at SEMA.

The small motor is a motor built for the Trans Am series, 302 cubes and 600hp.

The car in the garage is the show car from SEMA (soon to be for sale)

What are you taking out to Bonneville?? I am going out there this year, will be my first, but always wanted to go. Let me know, I will look you up.

As for the '97 Power Tour car, what was it, a '38 Chevy Coupe or something else. I know that Rad Rides by Troy built a '38 Coupe (Predator), the Sniper and his '66 Chevelle all were on that tour and I believe the Coupe was leading in the pic that I have in a Hot Rod mag.

We have a 33 Ford roadster with a 241 hemi. This year we are going to put in a small block and still run in the 260 and under class. Went 211 on a 216 record, but it got bumped a few mph this year. So with the new motor we can make the power much easier. Our class is F/MR so with the modified part we really have not taken much advantage of what we can do.
I think that Bonneville is one of those places that everyone who is into motor sports needs to go, the feeling you have when you leave reminds me of the feeling after a long weekend of going out and at the end you look back and you just think, wow.

I second that. And I get "home sick" as soon as Smith's in Wendover disappears from my rear view mirror driving on I-80 west bound.

Cool pics, James!
