Hey all, I saw this post over at TAC fourms. I signed it (naturaly) as I am a big fan of the T/A.

I thought I would lift it and show it here for the musclecar fans here.
Even if you are'nt necessarily a T/A fan, I think the petition will be eye opening for GM. I don't really know how much impact this will have. Probably not much, but it will sure show them what kind of market there may be for such a car. I think anyone who has a favorite model they would like to see brought back to life, ie: GTO, maybe a Chevelle, a 'Cuda or whatever, might be interested in how far this petition might go.

I'm sure by now you all have seen my concept Trans Am Drawings. Well, I have received such an overwhelming response through the T/A Nationals, the Year One Experience in Georgia, on myspace.com/transamconcept, on transamcountry.com, on various other forums on the net and emails etc. that I thought I would start a petition to send to GM so THEY can hear everyones comments. Im sure it is a waste of time, but, I really feel that GM should bring the T/A back and I am going to do all I can to try to achieve that & keep this dream alive. I am asking for all of my fellow TAC brothers to help me out with this one. Please sign the petition here. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Bring_Back_The_Trans_Am/index.html
any chance of making this post a "STICKY" moderators?

Thank You Everyone!

Those are really cool! They look "buildable" as well. Who knows if GM will notice, maybe if you had people sign the petitions on the back of deposit checks!

Every good design someone thinks up is one GM can't use. They'll never use a fan design. They're too proud.

I think too stupid is the correct word. Sorry but GM is being and has been mismanaged for a long long time. If the company wasn't so large, it would have collapsed long ago. The bean counters took over and the designers weren't allowed to truly design. Of course this is the problem with most car makers. There's a reason so many cars look the same and none have any real gutsy designs to them, they all ask study groups for their opinions instead of just building something badass. They water it down to make everyone happy. One car that really turned a page and want bold was the LS1 Trans Am starting in 98. They did it and people called it boy racerish and bat mobile and all kinds of lame names. At the same time they trumpeted the Ford oval. I'm sorry, I meant taurus. Ford has not made anything bold in years. Everything Jay Mays has "designed" that has gotten any attention has been nothing but a retro. That's not designing and he's nothing special, if you judge him by his work. Finally cadillac came out and started bringing edgy back. Some how people didn't slam it and as far as I'm concerned Cady's are remarkable in the styling department. They truly designed something new. Another example of looking the same. The new Subbie WRX. I think Mazda and Toyota should sue Subbie for intellectual property fraud. The car is nothing but a Mazda 3 five door with a Toyota camary grill. How freaking lame and obvious can you be? It's about as bad as the Koreans copying Honda and Acura.

Ok rant off.

This is why with more "new" cars hitting the road, I look to the old cars. There is truly art in the designs.

These are the designs Kevin Morgan's talking about:

Looks like about a $3500 aftermarket rebody kit for the diehards.

Give the Pontiac crowd what they want. Its only fair.

Didn't dig them the first time, less so now.

Although, there is something to be said for a Pontiac that does not wear a grille treatment reminiscent of an '86 Grand-Am.

weren't the last gen F bodies cancelled due to poor sales? retro throwback ripoffs make magazine covers and car shows, but many, if not MOST, of the people calling for these cars to be built are not going to BUY one.
one of the things I love about the corvette is it's always cutting edge. it doesn't rip off it's own heritage. I'm sorry, but all these rip offs don't have any chance of longevity. the new charger works because it's practical (4 door) and it's not a rip off ('cept for the graphics), but the challenger concept, camaro concept, please. they look like bad kit cars.
