Any body have pictures of the rear sway bar installed on a 2nd gen F body? I am putting a 76 together and installed everything this weekend. I don't have anywhere to attach the axle side mounts to the axle. I am missing some sort of bracket or something to connect.

Help....anybody???????

Do you have pics of what you have? I can tell you what you need if you can show me what you have. Otherwise, I'm gonna go take a pic of my rear bar setup. I'll post it up in a few...

what you need is 2 front frame sway bar mounts with the correct bushing for your size sway bar and they mount under the leaf spring plate using the inside 2 bolts on each side, if you go to a local auto part store that sells Energy suspension bushings look for the ones that have a bracket that fits a rage of 2 9/16" to 3 5/8" with the right size bushings

As was mentioned, you can and should get new bushings. Used hardware can be found in Z28's and T/A's as well as other 2nd gens.

Here's an old one I had lying around:

You need 2 bar to frame supports

And 2 sway bar end link bushings and brackets

I have all the stuff pictured there by 70bird as all new parts.

However, I don't know how the bar mounts to the axle. I have it bolted to the frame rails per factory mount, and it is just hanging down behind the axle with now way to attach the lower bushings.

Long story, but somebody else took the axle and stock sway bar out.

How do they attach? My plate only has the four holes for where the U bolts come through.

This bracket bolts to the bottom of the spring plate at the INNER U-bolts.

Doh! :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

I feel like a big dork. That's all there is to it? I thought for sure there was some kind of dedicated bracket to mount to the spring shackle plate. My 69 Camaro has a special bracket off the axle tube that mates up to the sway bar mount.

The only problem I have is I upsized to 1/2" U bolts and have to slot out the new bushing mounts. No big deal...especially knowing that I just bolt this up and am not missing any parts.

Here is a picture of it when it showed up last January from the transporter truck. We then yanked the front clip and frame. You will see an article on this in next months Pontiac Enthusiast (frame resto) - then proceeded to install the VB&P Maximum Performance suspension.

This car is as much "pro-touring" as it is "pro-fueling." It is getting a warmed up version of the stock Pontiac 400 with aluminum heads, rollers, etc. and Accel EFI. That is mated to a Bowtie Overdrives 700R4. No big deal, except all is tied back to the stock 2.42 rear axle. It will be riding on about 26" tall tires.

The goal is to squeek it into the 13s - handle like a modern car (thus the killer VBP stuff) AND simply sip a drop or two of fuel on the highway. It should be able to really maximize MPG from stop to stop on the road leaning heavy on some trick engine machine work and tuning so that at 900 RPM it can still push the car down the highway.

More on all that later.

Of course...A/C, power windows...etc.
