I'll build my own gas tank out of stainless and need a sender, tank will be approx 7" deep so I need a universal sender, I have looked din to several brand floater types that are adjustable from 6-12" but I have not had any luck fing one compatible with my GM (0-90ohm) gauge, anyone have an idea?
thanks

The one I got from Detroit Speed was set up for a GM gauge. Check them out, the link is to the right ------->

The DSE sender will work for you. Give it a try.

When I built my tank, I got my sender from Wema. They will custom build one any size and type you want. Good price and super easy to deal with

I use these WEMA stainless marine type senders in my cars. You can get them in any length and ohm range you want, I also have the 0-90 OHM GM ones.

I started planing a SS tank as well. Care to share any specifics? Baffles?

Thanks for replying guys, I found a VDO unit at summit but I'll definitely look at the Wiha unit beforebuying.

I dont mind sharing, my plan is as follows:
since I have narrowed my frame I cannot fit a standard tank in my frame anymore so I'll have to build one.
it will be 20" long and 39-40" wide, then it will have a height of 7 1/2" for half the lenght and then it will narrow down to about 5" at the bumper.
I plan to make four extra "sides" and use them as baffles lenghtwise and then I'll make one or two baffles sidewise and a "can" around the pickup tube.
for now my car will be carbureted but I'll make a "pullout" part on the top so I can put a fuel pump in it in case I'll go EFI.
Since it will go in a 68 Chevelle that have a fixed tube I'll us a 2" filler tube with a boat filler cap at the end (see pic), I plan to turn it down so it will basicly just be a cap at the the end of the tube.

Sounds pretty much what I had in mind, except the fill cap, which is a really cool idea.
I also was thinking of using trap doors on the internal baffles, or small holes to limit fuel slosh.
As far as constructing the tank, I plan to make a sheet metal piece that will require welding only one seam on top, and the end caps.
Mine will be for a 70' chevelle in stock location/size.

I'll do excactly that except the trap doors, all the baffles will be wall to wall and floor to roof but with some holes
I'll also use one sheet to go all the way around and then weld the end caps, it cuould actually be made of one sheet only wasnt it for the fact that the sheets they sell here are 1x2meters (40x80" approx).
I plan to put six sheets on top of each other and cut through them, in that way the end caps and baffles will have all the same shape. then I'll fix them together beside each other with the "sidewise" baffles and roll the big sheet around them, before closing the top I'll put the AN nipples in.
I have indeed never done this before so I dont know if it will work as I plan. what do you think?

Sounds good to me. I never attempted to make a tank, either.
How are you cutting the material, bandsaw? I have access to a laser and brake press. Instead of trap doors, which can get rather complicated, I think I will use internal ribs with holes top and bottom. That should control the fuel slosh.

I cannot really afford the bandsaw I want right now so I guess I'll do it the old way..... really thin disk on the die grinder.
I plan to put six sheets (two outer walls and four inside baffles)on top of each other and fix them together with clamps and then cut through all of them at the same time, in that way dey will all be the same dimension, then I'll have to remember to take two sheets off and make some holes in the four ones going on the inside of the tank.

The Wema unit came in yesterday, all I can say is that it is a very nice part.
