:hammer: Ok guys, help me out. I've been running C5 wheels and tires on my 69 camaro for a couple of years with 2" adapters. I just got my new C6 wheels and tires mounted and tried to test fit them. I knew there would be differences in offset in the rear with the wider wheels and that I would probably need new spacers made. On the driver's rear the wheel/tire bolts on although it touches on the inner wheelhouse. The passenger side is way different. I can't even get it close to bolting on. Where it touches on the inner wheelhouse I still have a gap of .704" between the adapter and the wheel mounting surface. I did notice that the inner wheelhouse structure is different side to side because of the staggered shock arrangement from the factory. Is there really that much variation on these old cars?
I was also wondering if anyone knows of any rear axle application that is about 65" wide? That would get me really close to not having to use the adapters.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

Does anyone on here make hub-centric adapters?

Yes, they really can vary that much. I have a 73/74 Nova project that just got C6 5-spoke wheels and adapters and it took some tweaking to get things centered up. I made my own adapters, but I've heard good things about Skulte Performance from folks here. I can't recommend Motorsport-Tech from personal experience, but if you do a search on adapters you'll find several threads on the subject.

As for the rear axle width, the 1973-1979 F100/F150 2WD and 4WD pickups came with 65" WMS-WMS Ford 9" rear axle assemblies, 31-spline shafts, 3.50 ratio (most of them anyway), and Trac-Locs are common as well. Plus, they're plentiful and dirt cheap if you can get them before the roundy-round guys do. You'd have to change the axle flange pattern, but that's no too difficult to do.

The 1978-1979 Broncos shared the same axle and to the best of my knowledge, so did the 1980-1983 F150 pickups.

Just FYI, the same era of E150 vans used the widest Ford 9" of anything at 67" WMS-WMS up until 1986 I believe...then everything had gone to the 8.8".
