I am in the process of shopping for a complete exhaust system for my 1979 camaro, from the headers back. The engine is a 350 putting out roughly 350 horsepower. I prefer an x-pipe and stainless steel headers and tubing. I want the sound to be aggressive and deep. If you have any advice please let me know. My email is

I believe Pypes makes what you want. I don't know how their system sounds. They've got sound clips on their site. Check it out.

If ground clearance is an issue for you, and I assume it is, as these cars are quite low, even at stock height. You might consider using a transverse muff in the fact. location. I checked on this a couple of years ago and found Flowmaster makes a 2 -1/2" unit that would work nicely, and would have used it were it not for the fact that my fuel lines now live in this location. With a stock type tank it should work great.
I ended up using two 2-1/2 Flowmasters with dumps b4 the axle. It's quite loud in the car.But since I don't even have a stereo yet, It's music to my ears! I think I will eventualy finish the exhaust and route it over the axles. I had my muff guy tuck 'em up there as tight as he could within reason. They actualy sit just above my subframe connectors at the lowest point. And while very close to the floor pan, I have not noticed that area to be getting hot. We'll see what happens when I actualy drive it for any length of time.
